Michael Rooker
Mr. Michael Rooker, age 46 of Jasper, passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Mr. Rooker was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth Rooker; father and mother, Bud and Juanita Rooker; brother, James Rooker; and sister, Laura Walker.
Survivors include Debbie Rooker, Jasper; daughter, Sara Rooker, Jasper; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Dean Price, Canton; brother, David Rooker; and mother- and father-in-law, Frances and Hugh Gravely. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday from Free Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. Tim Pearson, Randy Weaver and Greg Long officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family did accept flowers or contributions may be made in memory of Michael at Jasper Banking Company. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Martha Faucett
Mrs. Martha Jane Faucett, age 71 of Jasper, passed away Nov. 20, 2008 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
Survivors include her children, Gary and Annie Faucett, Laura and Michael Wofford, James W., Jr. and Brenda Faucett and Brenda and Tadpole Evans; brother, John William Fitzsimmons, Nelson; sister-in-law, Paulette Fitzsimmons; grandchildren, Chasity and Andy McClure, Heather Stone, Shannon and Adam Westbrook and Alex Faucett; four great-grandchildren; and very special cousin, Betty Champion. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Revs. James Rich and Corey Rich officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Roy Quinton
Mr. Roy Quinton, age 64 of Talking Rock, passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008 at Heartland Hospice House in Cartersville, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Teena Quinton, Talking Rock; daughter, Wendy Quinton, Atlanta; step-sons, Chris and Dustin Carver, both of Talking Rock; sister and brother-in-law, Millie and Bill Cain, Jasper; step-grandchildren, Desiree, Navaeh and Kyle Carver; niece, Lisa Brasher; and nephew, Chris Brasher, Woodstock.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Johnny Garrison and Jerrold Young officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Thomas and Ted Quinton, Rick Bell, Eddie Stuart, Steve Burrell, Lamar Nichols, Chris Brasher, Louie Campano, Gary Dale and Bill Cain. Members of the Talking Rock Fire Department were honorary pallbearers, and also Truman Parks, James Quinton and Stantford and Ricky Rittenberry. Zue Harris
Mrs. Zue Stewart Harris, age 86 of Greensboro, departed this life on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008 at Brighton Gardens.
Born June 10, 1922 in West Blocton, Al. to the late George and Rebecca Stewart, Mrs. Harris was of the Baptist faith and a Red Cross volunteer. She was a real estate agent licensed in the states of North Carolina, Virginia, New York and Florida, and later became a real estate broker, opening her own real estate company in Georgia. Mrs. Harris was the first woman elected to the City Council in Jasper, Ga.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 65 years, William Davis Harris, Sr.; children, Barbara H. Johnson, Greensboro, William Davis Harris, Jr. and Susan Harris Mouw, Iowa, and Elizabeth M. Harris, Greensboro; grandchildren, Lara Johnson Bibey, Reidsville, Scott F. Johnson, Greensboro, Rebecca Pearl Harris, Fairfax, Va., and Benjamin Davis Harris, Seaside, Or.; and great-grandchildren, Brandon Bibey, Reidsville, and Avery Johnson, Greensboro.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10 at Westminster Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Cates officiating. Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Velma Wofford
Mrs. Velma Mae Wofford, age 85 of Jasper, Ga., passed Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper following a period of declining health.
Born April 19, 1923 in Monroe, Tn., she was the daughter of the late Harv and Ellen Hopkins Cantrell. Mrs. Wofford and her husband had worked on a chicken farm. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Eugene Brooks, Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Irene Wofford, Ellijay, Ga.; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Faye Queen, Murphy, N.C.; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Wade and Lois Cantrell, Eugene and Mary Ann Cantrell and Larry and Ruth Cantrell, all of Jasper. Mrs. Wofford was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Wofford.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26 from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Danny Townsend and Carl Owenby officiating. Interment followed in Sharptop Baptist Church Cemetery.

Allen Hardy
Allen C. Hardy, age 84 of St. Simons Island, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008.
Mr. Hardy proudly served his country as a Senior Chief in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He enlisted 6 months after graduating high school and 6 months before the attacks on Pearl Harbor. His first assignment was in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, when the U.S. stopped the attempted Japanese invasion of the Aleutian Islands in the early days of WW II. He spent the rest of his career serving in the Pacific.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Sherman Hardy, St. Simons Island; sons, Laurence Hardy, Los Angeles, Ca., and John Almand (Bebe), St. Simons Island; daughter, Carolann Stabrowski, Acworth, Ga.; sister, Alma Hardy Clark, Marietta, Ga.; several nieces and nephews, also of Marietta; grandson, John F. Almand, St. Simons Island; and several other grandchildren who live in Acworth.
A celebration of Allen?s life will be held in North Georgia at a later date.

Carl Christian
Mr. Carl C. Christian, age 81 of Dacula, Ga., passed early Wednesday morning, Nov. 26, 2008 after a lengthy battle with emphysema.
A native of Tate, his parents were the late Charlie and Lillie Chester Christian. He was a WW II veteran and a retired printer with 39 years of service with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Frances Christian, Dacula; and children, Connie and Anderson Strickland, Tulsa, Ok., Rhonda and Wayne Huttoe, Loganville, Ga., and Tim and Heather Christian, Monroe, Ga. Five grandchildren, two step-grandsons and one great-granddaughter also survives.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 29 at 11:30 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Von Hinton officiating. Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery, Dahlonega, Ga., with Greg Christian, Blake and Ben Huttoe, Eric Lozano and Levi and Daniel Allen serving as pallbearers.

Milton Ray, Jr.
Mr. Milton Ray, Jr., age 39 of Talking Rock, Ga., passed early Thursday morning, Nov. 27, 2008 in Gordon County.
Survivors include his beloved dog, CoCo; father, Charles Milton Ray, Cartersville; mother, Alma Ray, Talking Rock; brothers, Thomas Ray, Tennga, Ga., Timothy (Bug Eye) Ray, Talking Rock, Johnny Mark Ray, Fairmount, and Michael Ray, Jasper; and sisters, Wanda (Cissy) Ray, Talking Rock, and Tina Ray, Fairmount. Seven nephews, nine great-nephews, eleven nieces and five great-nieces, and a host of other family and friends also survive.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. I.L. Smith, Jr. officiating.

Franklin Logan
Mr. Franklin Downey Logan, age 64 of Jasper, Ga., died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008 at Heartland Hospice in Cartersville, Ga. following an extended illness.
Born Nov. 12, 1944 in Murray County, Ga., he was the son of the late Mark and Inez Taylor Logan. Mr. Logan had last worked as a truck driver for Glenn Anderson Garbage Service and he was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Elaine H. Logan, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Randy Childers, Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Lamar and Michelle Logan, Jasper; grandchildren, Ethan Logan and Cody Childers; sisters, Minnie Easley, Talking Rock, and Gail Pettigrew, Jasper; brothers, Cliff and C.W. Logan, both of Talking Rock, Ronnie and Wendell Logan, both of Calhoun, an Wayne Logan, Jasper. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 from Berean Baptist Church in Gilmer County with the Revs. Tim Hyde, Scott Watkins and Gary Rittenberry officiating. Ruth McDaniel
Mrs. Ruth Thomason McDaniel, age 85 of Jasper, Ga., died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper following an extended illness.
Born Sept. 21, 1923 in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Mandy Childers Thomason. She was also preceded in death by daughters, Kimberley Harper and Frances Dorsey; and sisters, Moline Mullins and Lucille Thomason. Mrs. McDaniel was a homemaker and member of County Line Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Jo Ann McDaniel and Nancy and Allen Hamrick, all of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Carol McDaniel, Jasper; grandchildren, Jason and Cole Dorsey, Tiffany Buice, Alison Lopez, Joey Smith, Holly Manglogiannis, and Ryan and Kyle Harper; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Mrs. Evelyn Townsend, Smyrna. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Jean Harris
Jean Denman Harris, age 80 of East Ridge, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008 in a local health care facility.
She was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church and a former Catoosa County School teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Berlin Harris; brothers, Chapley, J.D. and Wallace Denman; and sister, Winnie Huggins.
Survivors include her children, Winston (Angie) Harris, Jasper, Chris Harris, East Ridge, Jane (Chris) Brock, Kingston Springs, Tn., and Phil (Laura) Harris, Ringgold; and sister, Judy Wiggins, Ringgold. Nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday at 11 a.m. from East Ridge Baptist Church with Dr. C. Henry Preston officiating. Burial was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Jasper at 3 p.m.

Elbert Patterson
Mr. Elbert Patterson, age 84 of Calhoun, Ga., passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Patterson was born July 29, 1924 in Pickens County, Ga., son of the late Arthur Hugh and Lula Bell Carrol Patterson. During his lifetime he served his country with the US Army during WW II and retired from American General Insurance Co. Mr. Patterson was a member of Ball Creek Baptist Church where he had served as church clerk for many years.
Survivors include his sons, Larry Patterson, Canton, and Randy Patterson, Holly Springs; daughter, Donna Lynn Harry, Ball Ground; brother, Rev. Lloyd Patterson, Calhoun; and sisters, Odell Silvers, Canton, Ella (Pat) Patterson and Ruth Garlin, both of Calhoun, and Gladys Jones, Marietta. Six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. from Ball Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Buddy Roper and Eugene Childers officiating. Singing was conducted by the Moss Girls and Ball Creek Baptist Church Choir. Pallbearers were: Justin and Jacob Patterson, Thurmond, James and Howard Carver and Danny Clark. Herbert Frost
Herbert Halsey Frost, age 82 of Gainesville, Fl., passed away Nov. 28, 2008 at Oak Hammock.
Mr. Frost was born in Floral Park, N.Y. and moved to Gainesville four years ago. He served in the US Navy during WW II and was a graduate of Swarthmore College. He pursued careers in banking and securities and retired as an executive and director of Robinson Humphrey/American Express in Atlanta.
Post retirement, Mr. Frost was a founder of Crescent Bank and Trust Company in Jasper, Ga. and held many leadership positions at The Chapel, Big Canoe, Ga. He also found time to pursue his passion for golf.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elinor Frost; a brother, Halsey Frost and wife Betsy, Austin, Tx.; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Stephanie Frost, Dallas, Tx., David and Heidi Frost, Houston, Tx., and Robert and Susan Frost, Atlanta, Ga. Eight grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Dec. 8 at Oak Hammock, 5100 SW 25th Blvd., Gainesville at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Bob Shetler officiating.
