Mrs. Sue Young, age 80 of Ball Ground, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sharon Young, Ball Ground; sister, Martha Henderson, Newnan; grandchildren, Christy Barger, Ball Ground, and Kenny Young, Waleska; and great-grandson, Caden Barger, Ball Ground.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21 from Huey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in Cherokee Memorial Park with the Rev. Eddie Martin officiating.
Mrs. Hazel Long Childers, age 87 of Calhoun, Ga., passed Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008 at the residence.
Mrs. Childers was born April 8, 1921 in Fannin County, Ga., the daughter of the late Willis W. and Dovie Gee Long. During her lifetime she was employed as a seamstress for Finecraft, Inc. Hazel was saved and baptized in August 1934 at Liberty Baptist Church near Ranger, Ga. and was a member until 1959 when she moved membership to Union Grove Baptist Church. She married John Richard Childers on May 13, 1937 in Pickens County. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1941 and brothers, Emory, Carl, Sylvester, J.C. and Henry Long.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Johnnie Mae Childers Bailey and Wesley L. Bailey; grandchildren and spouses, Steve and Karen Bailey, Charles and Peggy Bailey, Teresa Bailey and Rojillo Najera, Keith Bailey, Terry and Kelly Bailey and Holly Bailey; and special granddaughter-in-law, Kerry; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews; and special niece, Shirley Long Phillips.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23 from Union Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Lamar Payne, David Baker and Donal Collum officiating. The choir of the church conducted the singing. Pallbearers were: Steve, Charles, Keith, Terry, Leon, Gary, Kevin and Jeremy Bailey. The Bible Class of the church served as honorary escort. Interment followed at Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery in Pickens County.
Mr. William Ronald ?Ronnie? Duncan, age 71 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008.
Mr. Duncan was born in Pickens County on Feb. 1, 1937, the son of the late Gaston Elbert and Laura Millisent Green Duncan. He was a veteran of the US Army and member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Marietta. Mr. Duncan was a retired electrical technician at AT&T.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hendrix Duncan; sons, Steve Duncan, Talking Rock, and Daniel Duncan, Cypress, Tx.; and granddaughter, Grace Duncan.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. from the Chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Dr. Ron Stone officiating. Interment was in Carroll Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were: Steve and Daniel Duncan, Scott and Greg Hendrix, Roger Beck and Kenneth and Jeff Cooke.
Mr. Ardell W. Hodgins, age 62 of Canton, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2008.
Mr. Hodgins was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church and was a retired supervisor with Simpson Grocery.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela (Rory) Chumley, Canton; and aunt, Helen Densmore, Hill City. A host of cousins and other family members also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Revs. John Holaway and Steve Chadwick officiating. Interment followed in Cherokee Memorial Park.
