Aaron Mason, age 15 of Marietta, formerly of Canton, Ga., passed in Cherokee, N.C. Monday, July 21, 2008.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Gabriel and Beth Mason, Marietta; mother and step-father, Jennifer Lamanac and Aaron Eriquezzo, Canton; grandparents, Linda Lamanac, Jasper, and Sandra Smith, Canton; and brothers, Mark and Matthew Eriquezzo, both of Canton.
The funeral service was held Thursday, July 24 at 2 p.m. from Huey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vernie Worley officiating. Interment was in Lake Forest Memorial Park in Jasper. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Aaron Mason Fund at Regions Bank.
Mr. Roy Lee Keener, age 58 of Dallas, Ga., passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Tranquility Hospice in Austell, Ga.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Keener, Jasper; brothers, Leroy Keener, Raleigh, N.C., Larry Keener, Talking Rock, and Harold Keener, Jasper; sisters, Betty Raines, Calhoun, Julia Mooney, Ellijay, and Sherry Green, Jasper. Roy Lee was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Keener; brothers, Michael, Rodney and Harry Keener; and sister, Wanda McTaggart.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30 from Flat Creek Baptist Church in Gilmer County with the Revs. Clifford Nelson and Junior McTaggart officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with local Chapter 47 DAV in charge of the military graveside service. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bryan Grubbs, age 36 of Jasper, Ga., passed suddenly Friday morning, July 25, 2008 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Grubbs, Jasper; sons, Jakob, Blake and Riley Grubbs, all of Jasper, and Jansen Bryan Grubbs, who is to be born in November; father and step-mother, Gary and Holly Grubbs, Ball Ground; grandfather, Joe H. Grubbs, Smyrna, Ga.; father- and mother-in-law, Simon and Michel Villanacci, Jasper; uncle and aunt, Mike and Denise Grubbs, Bremen, Ga.; and sister, Jeanette Harrington Grubbs, Thompson, Ga.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 2 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Min. Peter Dove officiating. The family will accept flowers; however, these should be house-type arrangements. The family does suggest that memorials be made to a memorial fund being established for the children at a local bank, to be designated by the family. A reception will follow the memorial service.
John Hendrix, Sr.
John W. Hendrix, Sr., age 76, died peacefully at home on Thursday, July 24, 2008. The Jasper, Ga. native had lived in Savannah since 1960.
He graduated from the University of Georgia prior to joining the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hendrix served in the Judge Advocate General?s office while serving in Germany and after his discharge he graduated from the University of Georgia Law School in 1958. He was a member of the Georgia Bar Association and practiced law in Savannah since 1960. He was a member of St. John?s Episcopal Church, Clinton Lodge, F&AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies and Alee Temple. Mr. Hendrix was an avid saltwater fisherman.
Survivors include his son, John W. Hendrix, Jr., Savannah; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hendrix Fulbright, Lincolnton, N.C.; brother, Harry Hendrix, San Antonio, Tx.; sister, Mary Hendrix Boden, Coral Springs, Fl.; and grandchildren, Harold Lowren Fulbright III and Wesley Hunter Fulbright, both of Lincolnton, and Krystina Ann and John William McWhorter Hendrix, both of Savannah. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 28 from St. John?s Episcopal Church. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Remembrances may be made to St. John?s Episcopal Church, 1 W Macon St., Savannah, Ga. 31401.
Mr. Anthony ?Pablo? Holguin, age 37 of Jasper, died Sunday July 27, 2008.
Mr. Holguin was born on April 1, 1971 in Gilmer County. He was a truck driver and a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Justin Holguin; and grandparents J.T. and Georgia Stanley.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Holguin of the home; children, Carmon and Cortney Holguin, both of Jasper, and Michael Seagers, Demorest, Ga.; parents, Pete and Wilma Stanley Holguin, Jasper; brothers, Shane Holguin, Acworth, and Joseph Holguin, Snoraville; sisters, Tina Self, Calhoun, and Barriana Morris, Jasper. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Wednesday July 30 at 2 p.m. from the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Bartow County with the Revs. Cory Rich and Jerry Cowart officiating. Pallbearers were: Cecil Lee, Billy Lock, Jason Ray, Richard Daves, Eric Duncan and Randy Hughes. Honorary Pallbearers were: Ronnie Gravitt and Charlie Daves. Mrs. Barbara Gennell Lance, age 73 of Nelson, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the Northside-Cherokee Hospital.
Mrs. Lance was a homemaker, member of the Eastern Star, former president of Rebekah?s, member of the Lady?s Auxiliary of VFW and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, W. Dennis Lance, Nelson; son, Donald J. Lance, Nelson; and brother, Ernest W. Baker, Jr., Marietta. Five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31 from Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Revs. Joey Dubois, Gene Childers, Calvin Ball and Marvin Chattam officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery under the direction of Sosebee Funeral Home, Canton.
