Michael Keener
Mr. Michael Hoyt Keener, age 49 of Fairmount, Gordon County, Ga., departed this life Tuesday evening, May 6, 2008 at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, Ga. after several years of declining health.
Michael was born July 25, 1958 in Fairmount. He worked for many years as a welder and with the Georgia Department of Transportation in the Road Inventory Department. Michael was an avid motorcycle rider and loved his Harley-Davidson. He was a member of Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Hensley Keener of the home, and would have celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary Sept. 4; parents, Hoyt and Betty Lou Keener, Fairmount; father- and mother-in-law, Herbert and Eloise Hensley; brother- and sister-in-law, David and Pat Hensley, all of Ranger; special nephew, Blaine Hensley; God-children, Josh, Rachel and Amber Holbert; God-grandchildren, Lukas and Rosie Duvall and Madison and Makayla Gilland; special friends, Mylon and Shari Holbert and Robert and Teresa Taylor. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The service to celebrate the life of Michael was held Friday, May 9 at 2 p.m. from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Steve Samples and the Rev. Robert Vines officiating. Music and singing was provided by Amber Holbert and Bob and Travis Childers. He was laid to rest in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Mylon and Josh Holbert, Robert Taylor, Steve Black, David Hensley, John Gibson, Butch Young, Billy Lambert, Randy Cox and Charlie Poole. Honorary pallbearers: Ricky and Tim Young, Danny Childers, Greg Hartman, Nick Whitener, Scott Crider, Roger Mulkey, Steve Cantrell, Eddie Griffin, Pete Hancock, Tony Patterson, Gary Ingle, Timmy Nicholson and Danny Young. Donations may be made to Conasauga Kidney Foundation, 1506 Broadrick Dr., Dalton, Ga. 30720.

Joe McPherson, Sr.
Big Joe McPherson, Sr., age 64 of Ball Ground, passed at Metropolitan Hospice on May 2, 2008.
He was an auto mechanic and member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Trena Jones, Ball Ground, sons, Joe P. McPherson, Jr., Canton, Vincent McPherson, Ball Ground, Danny McPherson, Douglasville, and Chad McPherson, Ball Ground; and sisters, Ruby Ray and Dot McPherson, both of Canton, and Lena Harrison, Monroe. Eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with the Revs. Gene Tatum, Franklin McPherson and Danny Collis officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Doris McFarland
Mrs. Doris J. McFarland, age 63 of Ball Ground, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee. She was a homemaker and member of Nelson Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy McFarland; sons, Joel and Craig McFarland, both of Ball Ground; daughter, Trina Jordan, Canton; mother, Nell Wehunt, Ball Ground; brother, Ralph Wehunt, Free Home; and sister, Frances Wofford, Ball Ground. Six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 9 from Nelson Baptist Church with the Revs. Jeff Priest and Leroy Kelley officiating. Interment followed in Four Mile Baptist Church Cemetery. Sosebee Funeral Home of Canton in charge of arrangements.

Jimmy Heaton
Mr. Jimmy Heaton, age 50 of Talking Rock, passed away early Friday morning, May 9, 2008 at Northside-Cherokee Hospital.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Lisa Heaton, Talking Rock; son, Kyle Heaton, Talking Rock; daughters, Amy and Kacie Heaton, both of Talking Rock; father- and mother-in-law, Max and Jean Childers, Hill City; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mark and Brandy Childers, Marble Hill, Chris and Dawn Childers and Corey and Shannon Childers, all of Jasper, and Chad and Sarah Childers, Tate; sisters- and brother-in-law, Gaylene and Jimmy Gleason, Jasper, and Kaylene Marlow, Hill City. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, May 11 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Carl Owenby and Edwin Weaver officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Mark, Chad, Corey and Chris Childers, Verner Simmons, Gary Quinton, Bo Sandford, Allen Carver, Gene Jacobs and David Solomon. Honorary pallbearer was Jim Whitmire.

Larry Bruner
Mr. Larry Bruner, age 60 of Jasper, passed away Monday, April 28, 2008 at Heartland Hospice House in Cartersville.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Linda Bruner, Jasper; and sisters, Brenda Spence, Jasper, and Betty Jean and Huel Garrison, Talking Rock. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside interment service was held Thursday, May 1 at 2 p.m. from Ball Ground City Cemetery with the Rev. Benny Clark officiating. Pallbearers were: Danny Kirk, Steve Schrader, James Merritt, Don Smith, Jr., David Strickland, Charles Jones and Carl Childers. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Patricia Humphries
Miss Patricia Lynn Humphries, age 67 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Friday, May 2, 2008 at the Brian Center Nursing Home in Canton, Ga.
Survivors include her daughter, Melinda Sue Studstill, Canton; and son, Michael Steven Studstill, Dawsonville. Other survivors include grandchildren, Kattie, Michael, Lacey, Colton and Courtney, and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17 from Mercy Fellowship Church in Cumming, Ga., 205 Talbert St., Cumming. Pastor Terry Garrett will give words of encouragement and praise.

Peggy Mullins
Mrs. Peggy J. Mullins of Jasper passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008 at her residence.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, William and Becky Mullins and Alan and Gina Mullins, all of Jasper; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Franklin and Dot McPherson, Canton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sara and Milton Turner, White, Ga., Frances and Lamar Bearden, Kennesaw, and Martha Bryant, Fairmount; grandchildren, Miranda, Brett and Mathew Mullins, Colton and Syndel Wilkins; and aunt, Edna Wood. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14 from County Line Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Banks, Franklin McPherson, Scott Uzzell and Jim Fax officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Bill Headrick, Michael, Lee and Jimmy Mullins, Murl Burch, Robert Bryant, Michael Bearden and Dwayne McPherson. Honorary pallbearers were: Bill, Marshall, Myrick and Ronnie Mullins, Reggie Weaver, James Blalock, Phillip and Dana McPherson and Marcus Turner.
