Alice Thuma
Mrs. Alice Marie Thuma, age 82 of Jasper, Ga., died Monday, August 31, 2009 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper following a brief illness.
Born Dec. 12, 1926 in Pulowski, Ar., she was the daughter of the late Algeron Par and Florence Marie Roland Vaughn. She was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Neal Thuma. Mrs. Thuma was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Jasper.
Survivors include her husband, Les Thuma, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Lesley and Jeff Floyd, Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Dana Thuma, Jasper; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Cox, New York, Mary Forrey, Idaho, and JoAnn Swartout, Texas. Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
At her request, Mrs. Thuma was cremated and a memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3 from Roper Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Jeff Floyd was the speaker. A private family interment of the cremains was at Lake Forest Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to the Georgia Chapter of COPS, 142 Clubhouse Dr., Kennesaw, Ga. 30144.

Vickie Butler
Vickie Butler of Jasper, Ga. passed away on Monday, August 31, 2009.
She was a loving mother of four daughters and one granddaughter, Julie May, Ft. Meyer, Fl., Christie Clark, Smyrna, Ga., Susan Cook, Woodstock, Ga., Katie Butler, Jasper, and her granddaughter, Hailey McCain, Smyrna, Ga. Other members of her family include, Larry Butler, Jasper; her mother, Eljorie Hudson, and deceased father, C.J. Hudson, Cumming, Ga.; sister, Sheryl Tipton, Villa Rica, Ga.; and brother, Terry Lowery, Kennesaw, Ga.
A memorial service was held to honor the love her family felt for her in the Chapel at Ingram?s Funeral Home in Cumming, Ga. on Friday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Danny Bennett officiating. Louis Gay
Louis Archie Gay, recently of Talking Rock, Ga. and formerly of Jacksonville, Fl., passed away after a brief illness on Sept. 3, 2009.
Louis was born on Feb. 9, 1927 in Hawthorne, Fl. He was a veteran of WWII and retired from Southern Bell. Louis was also very active in The Shriners and Masonic Temples both in Florida and Georgia.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Virginia Dowling, Tampa; and his daughter, Holly Gay-Bastidas, Talking Rock.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to the Atlanta Humane Society or Pickens Animal Rescue in the name of Louis Gay. There will be a graveside service at Dedan cemetery in Brooker, Fl. on Sept 19 at 11 a.m. Cremation Society of the South in Marietta is in charge of arrangements.


Norma Younger
Norma Jean Ford Younger, age 75 of Henderson, Ky., died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
She was an active member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church for 10 years. Mrs. Younger was preceded in death by her son, Loyd Ford, Jr.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Ford Waters and husband Randy, Jasper, Donna Ford Kranz and her husband Butch, Cadiz, Ky., and Debbie Ford Rambo and husband Todd, Waco, Ga.; sister, Joan Kilpatrick, Brinkley, Ar.; grandchildren, Alex Ford, Hopkinsville, Lindsay Rambo, Atlanta, and Whitney Waters, Chapel Hill, N.C.; and great-grandchild, Erin Ford, Hopkinsville.
The funeral service was held at 10 a.m.Tuesday from Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ted Burke officiating. Burial was in Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or Henderson County Diabetes Coalition.

Paul Williams
Mr. Paul Thomas Williams, age 64 of Talking Rock, Ga., died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 at his residence following his battle with cancer.
Born Feb. 3, 1945 in Charleston, W.V., he was the son of the late Daniel Walter Williams and Elsie Jarrett Williams James. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Williams. Mr. Williams was a US Army veteran having served in Vietnam and was a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Jasper.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Burns Williams, Talking Rock; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob Raisbeck, Charlotte, N.C.; brother, Danny Williams, Riouton, Wy.; step-daughters, Allison B. Jones, Kingsport, Tn., and Melanie E. Costley, Conyers, Ga.; step-son, Robert O. Burns, Atlanta, Ga. Several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 from Northside Church of Christ in Jasper with Bro. Terry Burrus officiating. Mr. Williams was then transported to Montgomery, W.V. where a graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9 at Montgomery Memorial Park. Delmer Henson
Mr. Delmer Henson, age 77 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 following several years of declining health.
Mr. Henson was born Dec. 7, 1931 at Hayesville, N.C., the son of the late Archie Richard and Leavey Maney Henson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Henson, and later by Florence Henson Tish; brothers, Felder and Elmer Henson; and sisters, Pauline Henson and Lorrene Ferguson.
Survivors include his former wife and friend, Susan Hollaway; daughters, Carolyn Teague and husband Roger, Jasper, Nina Parker and husband Steve, Calhoun, Betty Henson, Woodstock, Mary Henson, Cohutta, Linda Smith and husband Donald, Chatsworth, and Jacqueline Shook and Loie Davis and husband Jeremy, all of Eurhalee; sons, Johnny Henson and wife Tracy, Cleveland, Tn., Richard Henson and wife Sadie and Toby Henson and wife Debbie, all of Calhoun, and Linus M. Westberry, Acworth; and sisters, Christine Bruce, Dahlonega, Irene Hollifield and husband Leon, Jasper, and Monteen Ledbetter, Gainesville. Sixteen grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and Sheryl Parker, Pamela Hughes, Donald Smith, Jr., Ashley Westberry, Harley Shook, James Pearson, Hylan and Albert Davis and many other nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with the Revs. Jether Cochran and Gary Quarles officiating. Pallbearers were: Andy Buchanan, Jorge Baza, Johnny, Shane, Heath and Richard Henson and Chris Channey. Honorary pallbearers were: Lukas Baza, Jacob and Levi Evans, Dylan Thomas, James Pearson and Aidn Channey. Interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Mr. Eric Stuart, age 48 of Ball Ground, passed away Monday, August 31, 2009 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Al.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn (Clem) Stuart, Ball Ground; mother, Maxine Anderson, Ellijay; son, Eric Stuart, Jasper; daughter, Hope Lee Stuart, Ball Ground; brothers, Donald and Eddie Stuart, both of Talking Rock; and sister, Freddie Nicholson, Ellijay.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Bethea Fieldings officiating. Interment followed in Cherry Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Ball Ground. Pallbearers were: Charles Eric Stuart, Tim Puffenbarger, Patrick Kelley, Jo Jo Cowart, Donald Kirby and Stanley Ray.

The recently published obituary for John Adam Osborne listing four surviving daughters is not correct. The listed girls are the daughters of his deceased wife, Anna Lee (Dills) Osborne.
John Adam Osborne?s legal children are Kimberly Anne Osborne Lanier, Jeffrey Michael Osborne and Scott Randall Osborne. There are six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mamie Whitfield, age 77 of Jasper, Ga., passed late Sunday evening, Sept. 6, 2009at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital, Jasper.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Whitfield, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Rich Brown, Jasper; brothers, Don and Bud Duncan, Marble Hill; sister, Mary Lou Qualls, Marble Hill; and grandson, Chris Brown. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 5 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Grant Wade officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Mark Hinton, Jeff Bennett, Larry Fann, James H. Bryan, Larry Watson and Billy Little. The family did accept flowers, or memorials may be made to the heart fund.
