Mrs. Gail Kincaid, age 62, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gail had a passion for her paint horses and was a member of Bent Tree Saddle Club of Jasper. She retired from Lockheed Martin as a design engineer.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald Kincaid and Blue Ridge, Ga. She is survived by her mother, Laura Price; sister, Betty Dockery; nephew, Brock Dockery, all of Knoxville, Tn.; nieces, Kristin Alley, Rock Hill, S.C., and Sherry Wilcox, Mineral Bluff, Ga.; and great-nieces, Rosalie Dockery and Lauren and Kate Alley, Rock Hill.
The funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with interment in Chastain Memorial Park in Blue Ridge.
Mr. Wilbern T. Pendley, age 81 of Canton, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee.
Mr. Pendley served in the US Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from Shell Oil Co. with over 30 years of service including Driver of the Year Award. Mr. Pendley was a Mason and member of the Cherokee County Shrine Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Pendley, Canton; sisters, Wynell Ingram, Marie Higgins and Shirley Herndon, all of Jasper, Colleen (George) Slaton, Dawsonville, and Naomi (Jim) Baldwin, Ball Ground; and brother, Terry (Brenda) Pendley, Dawsonville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, August 8 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Buddy Roper officiating. Interment followed in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Barbara Ray, age 64 of Jasper, formerly of Canton, passed away August 5, 2009 at Life Care Center of Copper Basin.
Survivors include her husband, Donald W. Ray, Jasper; daughter, Carla Keanum, Jasper; son, Corey Ray, Jasper; granddaughter, Sydney Keanum, Jasper; sister, Ann Usry, Jasper; and sister-in-law, Betty Rutledge, Canton.
The funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 8 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Scott Price and Eric Mayo officiating. Interment followed in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. LouVennie Walker Estes, age 74 of Nelson, Ga., passed Tuesday afternoon, August 4, 2009 at Wellstar-Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Terry Roper and Karen and Mark Young, all of Nelson; grandchildren, Holly Roper and Daniel and Jason Picklesimer, all of Nelson; and sisters, Judy Wilkie, Jasper and Juanita and Kenneth Dean, Ball Ground. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Estes was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Flara Walker; sisters, Pauline Neisler and Linda Mull; brother, Charles Walker; and grandson, Joseph Picklesimer.
The funeral service was held Friday, August 7 from Four Mile Baptist Church with the Rev. Sylvester Ridings officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Kenneth and Frank Dean, Bryan Walker, Chris and Dean Wilkie, Steve and Micky Neisler and Scott Mull serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Jonathan Mull and Mark Neisler. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Christine Holmes, age 82 of Marietta, passed away Friday evening at Wellstar Community Hospice in Austell.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Teo and Gerdie Lueck, Germany; brother- and sister-in-law, Wendy and Louise Holmes, Jasper; step-son, Johnny Holmes; and step-grandson, Jared Holmes, Ellijay. Step-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Revs. Tony Ramirez and Von Hinton officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
Zola Cheever, age 89, of Canton, died Saturday, August 8, 2009. She was a homemaker and was Presbyterian.
Survivors include her daughter, Michele Schluenz, Big Canoe; grandchildren, Laurie Moss, South Carolina, and Michael Schluenz, Texas; and three great grandchildren.
The body was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. South Canton Funeral Home & Chapel in charge of arrangements.
