Mary Keener
Mrs. Mary George Green Keener, age 88 of Ranger, Ga., departed this life Wednesday morning, Feb. 11, 2009 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Pickens County, Ga.
Mrs. Keener was born in Gordon County, Ga. August 29, 1920, a daughter of the late John and Agnes Southerland Green. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband,Floyd ?Alf? Keener; daughter, Jeanna Penson; sisters, Hazel Pearson, Berta Lee Hancock, Hattie Bennett and ParaLee Smith; and brothers, Woodrow, John and Colon Green.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Annie and David Perry, Fairmount, Barbara Bunch, Jerusalem Community, Jerri and Kenny Leachman, Marietta, and Frances and Adell Keener, both of Ranger; and sons, Eugene Keener, Fairmount, Kenneth Keener, Ranger, and Charles Keener, Calhoun. Twelve grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate thelife of Mrs. Keener was held on Saturday at 2 p.m. from Ryo Baptist Church with the Rev. Steven Baker officiating. She was laid to rest in the church cemetery, with her grandsons, Kelly and Keith Perry, Terry and Mark Bunch, Jared Leachman and Jason Keener, serving as pallbearers. Ponders Funeral Home of Fairmount was in charge of arrangements.

Stephen Rudnicki
Stephen John Rudnicki, age 89 of St. Simons Island, passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Rudnicki was a native of Cracow, Poland. He immigrated to the United States after loosing his family during the Holocaust. He truly loved the United States. St. Simons became his ?true Homeland? again.
Mr. Rudnicki is survived by loving his wife, Pat Evans-Rudnicki, St. Simons Island, Ga.; son, Stefan Rudnicki, Los Angeles, Ca; and two granddaughters, Macy Evans and Kirsten Hightower, both of Talking Rock, Ga.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, Ga.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude for the wonderful care Mr. Rudnicki received from Hospice of the Golden Isles Supplemented by loving Private Nurses from Coastal Nurses.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions to be made to the Hospice of the Golden Isles at 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Ga. 31525.

Doyle Johnson
Mr. Doyle Glenn Johnson, better known at ?Rinso and Soda Popp,? age 77 of Fairmount, Ga., passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 14, 2009 at the Cartersville Medical Center following eight months of illness.
Mr. Johnson was born Nov. 30, 1931 in Pickens County, Ga., the son of the late Perry Hiland and Emma Tillery Johnson. He was also preceded in death by agranddaughter, Margurite Robinson; and sister, Grace Ray. During his lifetime, Mr. Johnson was employed by Shaw Industries in the maintenance department and was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Rydal, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Ray Johnson, to whom he was married for 55 years; daughter and son-in-law, Teresia and Joe Robinson, Cartersville, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Ginger Johnson, Ranger, Ga., Butch and Penny Johnson and Mitch and Rhonda Johnson, all of Fairmount, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Ann Johnson, Calhoun, Ga. Seven grandchildren nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m. from Oak Hill Baptist Church in Rydal, Ga. with the Revs. George Gray and James Surratt officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with the Rev. Huey Holloway conducting the graveside service. Pallbearers were: Ricky Sheriff, Ronnie Abernathy, Darrell Hyde, Joe Robinson, Kenneth Temples and Tim Patterson. Honorary escort: Butch, Mitch, Mike, Dalton and Christopher Johnson and Darrell Hyde. Thomas Weibler III
Mr. Thomas P. Weibler III, age 49 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Weibler, Jasper; mother and father, Nancy and Henry Bante, Lillian, Al.; son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Victoria Bunch, Jasper; daughters and son-in-law, Annette M. Beck, Jasper, Jessica Lynn Weibler, West Allis, Wi., and Melissa and Lee Chumley, Jasper; four grandchildren; a loved one, Susan G. Weibler, Jasper; and a loving dog, Sandy.

Jim Bo Howard
Mr. Jim Bo Howard, age 51 of Canton, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2009 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Lou Howard, Canton; daughters and son-in-law, Crissy and Dallas Bradley and Amanda Howard, all of Canton; and grandchildren, Benjamin, Morgan and Coconut Bradley.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Edwin Weaver and Lamar Frady officiating. Mary Volz
Mrs. Mary Ruth Volz, age 88 of Talking Rock, passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 at her residence.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Troy Wells and Sandra and Bill Vannatta, all of Louisville, Ky., and Denise and Jackie Blackwell, Talking Rock. Five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. J.R. Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Georgia National Cemetery on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 2:30 p.m. Pallbearers were: Michael and Josh Bail, Judd and Jimmy Blackwell, Nathan Gayton, Bryan Smith and Phil Clark. Bill Evans
Mr. Bill Evans, age 78 of Talking Rock, Ga., died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, Ga. following a sudden illness.
Born July 20, 1930 in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Gordon Tom and Florence Swaney Evans. Mr. Evans had been employed as a custodian with the Pickens County Board of Education.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Evans, Talking Rock; daughter, Sally Evans Young, Talking Rock; son, Ronald Lee Evans, Talking Rock; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle Duckett, Jewell Childers and Betty Hancock, all of Talking Rock; and brothers, James, Jim and Emory Evans, all of Talking Rock. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12 from Hinton United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jim Schlieht and Stanford Willard officiating. Interment followed in Hinton Community Cemetery. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Hollis Crook
The Rev. Hollis Crook, age 72 of Jasper, passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2009 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Crook, Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, James and Karen Crook, Fairmount; daughters, Barbara and Carol Crook, both of Jasper; brothers, Junior Crook, Chatsworth, and Jerry, Charles, Ronnie and Donnie Crook, all of Fairmount; sister, Mary Ann Townsend, Fairmount; granddaughter and her husband,Cindy and Chris Baker, Fairmount; and great-grandchildren, Savannah Laney and Daelyn Baker, Fairmount. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday from Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Revs. Harold Cantrell, Terry Dean, Bobby Seagers and Russell Nations officiating. Michael Newton
Mr. Michael Larry ?Mike? Newton, age 63 of Fairmount, Ga., died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009 following a sudden illness.
Born July 27, 1945 in Atlanta, Ga., he was the son of the late Allen Lawrence and Mary Lee Cole Newton. Mr. Newton had worked as a superintendent with Unity Construction Company in Powder Springs, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Newton, Fairmount; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremiah and Kelly Newton, Fairmount; daughters, Olivia Newton, Fairmount, and Alisa Bates, Tallapoosa, Ga.; and grandchildren, Hannah and Allen Newton, Trevor and Allison Stacy and Jack Bates. Several other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9 from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Herman Mulkey officiating. At his request, Mr. Newton was cremated following the service.
