Ms. Mattie Elizabeth ?Bubba? Hamilton, age 87 of Jasper, Ga., died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 at Woodstock Nursing & Rehab Center in Woodstock, following a period of declining health.
Born March 20, 1921 in Dawson County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Motes Smith. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Ann Shipp; and brothers, Harold and Dean Smith. Ms. Hamilton had worked as a clerk with the US Postal Service.
Survivors include her grandson and spouse, Dean and Kristi Hill, Jasper; great-granddaughter, Brittney Hill, Jasper; step-granddaughter and spouse, Jenny and Dave Myers, Canton; step-brother, Barry Smith, Canton; nieces and nephews, Judy and Izzy Davila, Woodstock, David Smith, Jimmy Dean and Cindy Smith, all of Smyrna, Ga., Mike and Melissa Smith, Suwanee, Ga., and Rick and Wendy Smith, Lilburn, Ga.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7 from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Max Caylor officiating. Interment of the cremains was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10 in the Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta.
Mr. James K. Powell, age 70 of Talking Rock, Ga., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, Ga. following a sudden illness.
Born March 18, 1938 in Murray County, Ga., he was the son of the late Jim and Antha Demmia Thomas Powell. Mr. Powell had retired in 2000 from Georgia Marble Company after 39 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Charlene Powell, Talking Rock; sons and daughters-in-law, Mitchell and Marie Powell and Jeff and Jennifer Powell, all of Talking Rock; grandchildren, Amanda and Curtis Figuried, Shauna, Cody, Daniel and Ashley Powell; and sister, Univee Young, Dalton, Ga. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11 from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Carl Owenby and Larry Kelley officiating. Interment followed in Town Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Richard, Donnie and Larry Powell, Allen Carver, Neil Edmonds and Russell Little.
Mrs. Carolyn Ann Wilson, age 66 of Cartersville, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at the Specialty Hospital in Rome.
Mrs. Wilson was a retired customer service representative with Howard Johnson Motels.
Survivors include sons, Jimmy Boling and John Wilson, both of Acworth; daughters, Jeanette Beaver, Euharlee, Annette Carroll, Tate, and Joyce White, Cartersville; brothers, Edward Coalson, Adairsville, Jimmy Coalson, Glenville, Charles Hamby, Cleveland, Tn., Larry Hamby, Morganton, and Tim Hamby, Tennessee; sisters, Pat Fortenberry, Euharlee, Barbara Jones, Gadsden, Al., Ellen Bedwell, Cedar Bluff, Al., and Peggy Payne, Cleveland, Tn. Seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by a son, Sid Boling; sister, Diane Hopkins; and great-granddaughter, Makayla Camp.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10 from Oak Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Huey Holloway and Jerry Black officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Sosebee Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Michael K. McIntosh, age 29 of White, passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008.
Survivors include his wife, Leslie McIntosh, White; daughters, Sarah and Grace McIntosh, both of Canton, and Whitney McIntosh, White; mother, Sidney Mundy, White; father Raymond, McIntosh, White; brothers, Jonathan McIntosh and Matthew Mundy, both of White; and sister, Brittany McIntosh, White.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Sanford Fountain and Keith Cook officiating. Interment followed in Lake Forest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Tayrn Ellis Smith, age 37 of Jasper, passed early Saturday morning, Nov. 8, 2008 at Wellstar-Kennestone Hospital, Marietta.
Survivors include her husband, Ricky Smith; mother, Marian Barrett, Jasper; father, Doug Rich, Jasper; grandmother, Imogene McKin, Cleveland, Tn.; son, Drew Ellis, Jasper; step-son, Rodney Smith; daughter, Harley Smith, Jasper; and step-daughters, Erica and Jessica Smith and Holly Underwood; brothers, Danny Rymer, Waleska, and Kai Rich, Jasper; sisters, Deedra Hamrick and Debbie Robbins, both of Jasper. Six step-grandchildren, a niece and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Bruce Weeks and Tony Boyd officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Clint Jabley, James Bailey, Matt Robbins, Curt Hamrick, Wesley Rich, Dustin Collett, Nathan Painter and Greg Deal serving as pallbearers. The family did accept flowers or memorials may be made to an account established at Jasper Banking Co. in memory of Tayrn Rich Smith.
Mr. Leonard James Loggins, age 71 of Jasper, passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 5, 2008 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Sue Loggins, Jasper; sons and daughter-in-law, Arnold Logging and Jimmy and Bobby Loggins, all of Jasper; brother, Paul Hamrick, Cartersville; sisters, Celia Queen, Robbinsville, N.C., Margie Wilson, Ludville, and Betty Ann Ferman, Waynesville, Mo.; and granddaughters, Asia Payne and Kansas Loggins.
The funeral service was held Thursday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. from Free Hope Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery with local Chapter #47 DAV in charge of graveside services. The Revs. Grant Wade, Larry Holden, Tim Pearson and Mr. Andy Holden officiated. Pallbearers were: Danny, Jason, Tony and Don Stell, Danny Holden and Richard Poole. Mrs. Cleawell Mulkey, age 80 of Tate, Ga., passed Saturday afternoon, Nov. 8, 2008 at Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta.
Survivors include her sons, C.J. Mulkey, Augusta, Kenny Mulkey, Canton, and Mark Mulkey, Marble Hill; daughters, Jean Roberts, Tate, Helen Roland, Ranger, and Susan Cantrell, Jasper; brother, Ensley Evans, Gainesville; and sisters, Jackie Crowe, Murrayville, Ga., Maxine Motes, Doris Fowler and Dorothy Loggins, all of Gainesville, and Betty Temple, Canton. Seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Raymond Sewell, age 77 of Blue Ridge, Ga., passed Thursday evening, Nov. 6, 2008 at Heritage Health Care in Blue Ridge.
Mr. Sewell was a member of Blaine Masonic Lodge and was a veteran having served in the US Marine Corps.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Jennifer Sewell, Loganville, Ga.; and daughter and son-in-law, Pebbles and David Barr, Blue Ridge. Eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Cliff Nelson officiating. Interment followed in Jasper City Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. Pallbearers were: Austin Barr, Roy Wilson, Dave Adams, Josh Williams, Mark Cochran and Steve Dowda.

Mr. Willard Henderson, age 75 of Ellijay, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008.
Mr. Henderson was born on Dec. 23, 1932 in Gilmer Co. He was the son of the late James and Nancy Dean Henderson. He worked in the Lumber Industry and was a US Army Veteran. He was also of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Parker Henderson of the home; sons, Bobby and Gary Quinton, both of Jasper; brother,
Hoyt Henderson, Jasper; sisters,
Jean Henderson, Jasper, and Merine Frix, Cumming. Nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 2:30 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Young officiating. Music was by Regina Morgan. Pallbearers were: Gary and Bobby Quinton, Tim and Dwight Henderson and Ricky Holmes. Interment in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
