Dora Ellis
Mrs. Dora Mae Ellis, age 89 of Fairmount, Ga., departed this life Thursday morning, Sept. 25, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Ellis was born Sept. 15, 1919 in Cherokee County, Tx., the youngest daughter of the late Henry Bunk and Alice Brock Higginbotham. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Hoyt Ellis; and a daughter, Ruby Sally Ellis; brothers, Roy, Earnest and Cecil Higginbotham; and sisters, Ruby Higginbotham and Sue Johns.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Fairview Church of God in Oakman.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James Roy and Audrey Ellis of Fairmount; and Henry Lonzo and Sandra Ellis of Cleveland, Ga.; daughters, Dymple Buttrum and Mary Alice House, both of Jasper; special friends, Barbara Patterson of Fairmount, Willie Faye Haygood and Margie Elrod, both of Calhoun. Thirteen grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate her life was held on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. from the Fairmount Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Pasley and Hollis Crook officiating. She was laid to rest along side her husband at Pine Log Methodist Church Cemetery in Pine Log, Ga. with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Brenda Newhart
Mrs. Brenda Johnson Newhart, age 59, of Talking Rock, passed away on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008.
Mrs. Newhart was a member of Covenant Christian Church and the Revival for Jesus School of Ministries. She was a nursing home administrator and member of the Georgia Nursing Home Association.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Newhart, Sr., Talking Rock; son, Fred Newhart, Jr., Talking Rock; daughters, Lisa Rampley, Ellijay, and Misty Newhart, Gainesville; parents, Bishop Charles and Pearl Johnson; brothers, Stan Johnson, Sanford, N.C., Charles Johnson, III, Gainesville, and Travis Johnson, Asheboro, N.C.; sisters, Diane Thacker, Karen Baggett and Debra Childers, all of Gainesville; grandchildren, Christian Newhart, Joshua Robinson, Jessica Robinson, Caitlin Presell, Kelsey Maher, Courtney Presell, Forest Newhart and Seth Newhart; and great-grandchildren, Riley Robinson.
The funeral services was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 from the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Bishop Charles Johnson officiating.

Danny Gaddis
Mr. Danny Gaddis, age 51 of Talking Rock, Ga., passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Gaddis, Talking Rock; son, Jamie Gaddis, Talking Rock; brothers, Donald Gaddis, Jasper, Sam Gaddis, Marble Hill, and Jody Gaddis, Talking Rock; sisters, June Stewart, Nelson, and Barbara Rogers, Cartersville. Nieces and nephews and brothers- and sisters-in-law also survive. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Willette Gaddis.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Greg Bryant, Harold Hightower and Stephen Chapman officiating. Interment followed in Yellow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with local Chapter 47 DAV in charge of military rites. The family did accept flowers or donations may be made to a fund at Jasper Banking Co.

Flara West
Mrs. Flara Bell West, age 96 of Fairmount, Ga., passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008 at her residence.
Survivors include her sons, Hoyal B. West, Ellijay, Arven West, Fairmount, Max West, Jasper, Daniel West, Cartersville, and David West, Douglasville; daughters, Thelma Crockett, Atlanta, Doris Jackson, Athens, Dale Chambers, Dallas, and Sarah Mulkey, Fairmount; and brothers, Andy and Jeff Morris, both of Marietta. Twenty-four grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 from Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Revs. Joey DuBois, Moss Fountain, Robert Allen, Neal McKenzie and Donald Haley officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Randy Pinyan, Steven Atkins, Adam Easterwood, Steven Mulkey and Kenny and Alex West. The family did accept flowers or donations may be made to the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
