Harold W. Coulter, 84, formerly of Jasper, passed away on August 26, 2008.
Also known as ?Hal? or ?Hank? to many, he was born on May 17, 1924 in Montreal, Canada. After serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force in World War 11, he married his soul mate Joan Pellow. He attended McGill University and enjoyed a long and very successful business career, truly retiring only a few years ago.
He and Joan moved to Bent Tree in the early 1980s and came to lovingly call North Georgia their home. Harold was passionate about everything he decided to do; he was devoted to family, serving his community, his dear friends, golf, writing poetry and stimulating conversation. He was predeceased by Joan in 2000.
He is survived by his daughters, Maureen Osier (husband Lloyd) and Martha Coulter; his sons, Stewart (wife Kathy) and Steve (wife Dee); and his dear friend Linda Corcoran. He adored his grandchildren, Kim, Kate, Michael, Todd, Adam, Laura, Stephen and Emma.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, August 3l at 3 p.m. at the New Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Jasper. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Georgia.
Mr. Wendall Ballew, age 42 of Talking Rock, passed away Friday, August 29, 2008 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tn.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Ballew, Talking Rock; mother, Edna Lee Ballew, Talking Rock; daughter, Stephanie Ballew, Ellijay; brother, Randall Ballew, Ellijay; and sister, Lori Carver, Talking Rock. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Carl Owenby and Tim Hyde officiating. Pallbearers were: Kenny Young, Chuck and Stephen Wigington, Danny Bright, Greg Allford, Clint Long and Jerry Wofford. Honorary pallbearers were: Bob Wigington, Wallace Reece and all L&W Limestone employees and Wigington Contractors.
Mrs. Hazel Rich, age 85 of Jasper, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include her son, Doug Rich, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Garry Prather, Jasper, and Billye Jo and Bud Presley, Ball Ground; daughter-in-law, Linda Rich, Jasper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Luke and Emily Denson and Will and Myrna Denson, all of Jasper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kate Byess, Marietta, Melba and Jim Richards, Lithia Springs, and Phyllis and Harold Hensley, Jasper. Nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survives. Mrs. Rich was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Rich; son, Johnny Rich; and daughter, Peggy Rich.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. from Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Ronnie Kelley and Terry Caylor officiating. Interment was in Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Corey, Joe and Kai Rich, Steve and Adam Prather and Chad Presley.
Mr. Glenn James Cantrell, age 83 of Jasper, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008 at his residence.
Survivors include his companion, Mildred Hopkins, Tate; brother, Howard Cantrell, Ellijay; and sister, Estelle Fowler, Dora, Al. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Von Hinton officiating. Interment was in Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery with local Chapter #47 DAV in charge of military graveside services and also serving as pallbearers. The family did accept flowers or donations may be made to Georgia Mountains Hospice, 70 Caring Way, Jasper, Ga. 30143.
Ms. Mary Frances Love, age 75 of Jasper, Ga., died Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Altus House Hospice in Atlanta, Ga. following an extended illness.
Born March 1, 1933 in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Charles Lawrence and Mary Agnes Ruggiero Sully. She was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Love, and a sister, Ann Marie Sully Whitley. Ms. Love had worked as a secretary in the medical profession.
Survivors include her sisters and brother-in-law, June and Peter Giglia, Jasper, Victoria Sully Milligan, Salt Lake City, Ut., and Patricia Hoppel, Buffalo, N.Y. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
At her request, Ms. Love was cremated and a memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family with the Revs. Mary P. Johnson, Joe Holt and Deacon Katharine J. Armentrout officiating. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. A private interment of the cremains will follow in Arlington Cemetery in Sandy Springs, Ga. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family or to the American Cancer Society. Roper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Mary Lou Wright Free, age 69 of Jasper, passed away Sunday evening, August 31, 2008 at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. D.J. Free, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Wayne Crowe and Karen and Robert Wright, all of Jasper; sister, Marjorie Buchanan, Jasper; grandchildren, Jason Crowe and Kevin Wright; and one great-grandchild, Courtney Crowe.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 4 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Troy Davis, Harold Cantrell and Jason Phillips officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: David Buchanan, Junior Martin, Odis Stokes, E.C. Kelley, Jr., Larry Brady and Jeff Duke. The family did receive flowers or donations may be made to Town Creek Baptist Church.
