Mr. Clayton Lee Hancock, age 62 of Ranger, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Gordon Hospital.
Mr. Hancock was born in Gordon County on April 10, 1946, son of the late Clemon and Bertie Lee Green Hancock. He was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Stone Hancock; daughters and sons-in-law, Amber Hancock, Michelle and Chris Rogers, Nichole and Bobby Lee Stone and Keisha Chastain; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Ann Hancock, Chattanooga, Curtis and Alene, Jacky, David and Nancy, and Clarence Hancock, all of Fairmount, Gary Hancock, Calhoun, and Steve Hancock, Tennessee; sisters and brothers-in-law, Annie Mae and Ellis Owens, Oakman, Wilma Brookshire, Ranger, Dymple and Arvel Townsend and Sue and James Goble, all of Fairmount, Nancy and Colbert Cox, Calhoun, Patsy and Ray Patterson, Eton, and Glynese and Roy Pierce, Calhoun; brothers-in-law, Chris Stone and wife Sabrina, Calhoun, and Glen Stone and wife Tonia. Six grandchildren, Jalan Rogers, Austin and Chelsey Easterwood, Jordan Stone, Faith Townsend and Dakota Mathews, also survive.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, August 13 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with the Revs. Hubert Pack and Delmar Ledford officiating. Active pallbearers were: Eric, Bobby Lee, Rocky and Jacob Stone, Nicholas Hancock and Steve Jackson.
Mr. Coleman Bruce, age 63 of Marble Hill, Ga., died Friday, August 15, 2008 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, Ga. following a sudden illness.
Born Oct. 3, 1944 in Valdosta, Ga., he was the son of the late Willie Jack and Ellen Lucille Cole Bruce. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Bruce; and sisters, Jane Bruce and Nancy Roper. Mr. Bruce owned and operated Business Service Printing since 1982.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sue Bruce, Marble Hill; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy Anne and Bobby Lowe, Tate, Ga., Georgia Lou Stansel, Holly Springs, Ga., and Colleen and Ray Roberts, Marble Hill; brother, Billy Jack Bruce, Dalton, Ga.; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara Jones, Canton, and Mary and Bobby , Holly Springs. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 17 from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Mize officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Greg Lowe, Bradley Bruce, Larry and Jimmy Jones, Matt Neidlinger, Jeff Roberts and Ricky Roper.
Eric Shane Reynolds, age 27 of Talking Rock, Ga., died Saturday, August 9, 2008 in Pickens County from injuries sustained in a four-wheeler accident.
Born March 23, 1982 in Fulton County, Ga., he was preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds had worked as a framer with North Georgia Construction and had attended World Harvest Church.
Survivors include his wife, Tisa Reynolds, Talking Rock; sons, Eric Seth and Gavin Lee Reynolds, both of Talking Rock; mother and step-father, Vallery and Benny McDowell, Jasper; brother, Nathan Lee Reynolds, Marble Hill, Ga.; grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Dodd, Ball Ground, Ga., and former step-father, Johnny Mac Brown, Tennessee. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 12 from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Summey and Edward ?Buddy? McHale officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Reuben Burnley, Nathan Reynolds, Tracy Lester, Don Whitfield, Waldo Evans and Jason Beck.
Mr. Joseph Don Isaacs, age 74 of Jasper, Ga., passed Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at his residence.
Joe was born in Faucett, Mo., graduated on a basketball scholarship from The University of Missouri, was captain in the Air Force and spent his career in the grocery business where be became a divisional vice president of Colonial-Big Star and A&P.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carole Isaacs, Jasper; daughter, Brenda Isaacs-Booth, and son-in-law, William Both, Austin, Tx.; sons, Brad Isaacs, Los Angeles, Ca., and Thom Dalton and daughter-in-law, Barbara Dalton, Decatur, Ga. Two grandchildren, Liam and Jackson Both, both of Austin, Tx., also survive.
Visitation was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 16 at Cagle Funeral Home in Jasper. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pickens Animal Rescue, PO Box 45, Jasper, Ga. 30143.
Mrs. Pauline Born, age 75 of Jasper, passed away Friday, August 15, 2008 at St. Joseph?s Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her husband, Styles Born, Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Barbara Densmore, Talking Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Ivanell and Randy Cooper, Rocky Face, Ga.; brothers, Kenneth Wheat, Chatsworth, and Clifford Wheat, Crandall, Ga.; and sisters, Lillian Colum, Acworth, and Christine Jones, Dalton. Seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Born was preceded in death by a son, Robert Densmore.

Mrs. Carrie Poole Stancil, age 88 of Jasper, passed away Friday morning, August 15, 2008 at Grandview Health Care Center.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Cheryl Stancil, Jasper, and Sam Stancil, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Fred Phaby, Ellijay; and grandchildren, Kris and Allison Stancil and Jodi and Marius Deetleff, all of Jasper. Two great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, August 17 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Min. Kris Stancil and the Rev. Norman James officiating. Mr. Danny Wright, age 62 of Ellijay, died Thursday, August 14, 2008.
Mr. Wright was born on Feb. 23, 1946 in Gilmer County. He worked as a contractor and is a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his father, John Bill Wright.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Mitchell, Winterville, Ga.; granddaughter, Kerry Anne Mitchell; mother, Lois Wright, Ellijay; and sisters, Debbie Falls, Talking Rock, and Diane Green, Cleveland, Tn.
The funeral service was held Sunday, August 17 at 2 p.m. from Liberty Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Davis and Emuel Sanford officiating. Music was by Randall Bramlett & the Willing Hearts. Pallbearers were: Charles Kiker, Donnie Wood, Johnny Wright, David Mitchell, Terry Jones and Fred Kenner. Interment was in the church cemetery with Miliary Rites by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Bernhardt Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
