Mrs. Frances R. Grant, age 78 of Jasper, passed away at her residence Friday, August 1, 2008.
Survivors include her sons, Michael and Ken Grant, both of Marble Hill, and Jimmy Grant, Pensacola, Fl.; daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Steve Dudich, Cumming and Paulette and Mark Moxley and Norma Grant, all of Marble Hill; half-brother, Harris Couch, Marietta; and step-sister, Linda Sykes, Tampa. Six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Grant was preceded in death by her husband, G.P. Grant, and a daughter, Becky Grant.
The funeral service was held Sunday, August 3 at 4 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Huey Holloway and Cliff Barnes officiating. An entombment service was held in Sunrise Gardens Chapel and Mausoleum. Pallbearers were: Lester Brinson, Jr., Mark Moxley, Jody and Keith Grant, Ronald Barnes and Justin Cross.
James Barnes, Sr.
Mr. James Scott Barnes, Sr., age 55 of Jasper, Ga., died Thursday, August 7, 2008 at his residence following his battle with cancer.
Born Jan. 31, 1953 in Temple, Tx., he was preceded in death by his father, James Lester ?J.L.? Barnes. Mr. Barnes had worked as an electrician with Byrd Electric and was a member of Foothills Community Church in Pickens County.
Survivors include his wife, Candy Barnes, Jasper; children, Nicholas Adam Barnes, Jasper, James Scott Barnes, Jr., Florida, Brittany Meghan Barnes, Arizona, and Tara Barnes, Pennsylvania; mother, Mrs. Helen Barnes, Virginia Beach, Va.; sister, Paula Jeanne Boyd, Virginia Beach; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Jackie Barrineau, Belton, Tx.; mother- and father-in-law, Oley and Nelda Doty, Woodstock, Ga.; sister and brothers-in-law, Cynthia and Gary Hart, Marble Hill, and Stephen Doty, Minneapolis, Mn. Other relatives also survive.
A Celebration of Life was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 9 from Foothills Community Church with the Rev. John Reale officiating. Interment followed in Lake Forest Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Nicholas Adam Barnes, Rusty Thomas, Jason Fuyana, Johnnie Wycoff, Oley E. Doty, Gary Barnes, Jack Miller, Bill and Brian Hargrove, Richard Barrineau and Don Matoon. Ms. Margaret Yvonne Jett, age 55 of Cumming, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008 at her daughter?s residence.
Ms. Jett was a waitress at the Waffle House and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Farrah and Michael Westbrook, Cumming; grandson, Sean Westbrook, Cumming; mother, Jesse West, Jasper; brothers, Edward West, Canton, Ronnie West, Jasper, and Anthony Bagwell, Ball Ground; and sisters, Judy West, Dalton, and Wanda Stein, Washington.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 6 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Bros. David Ashworth, Jim Alterdice and Vernon Dunlap officiating. Interment was in Sawnee View Gardens.
Mr. Jerry Onial Greene, age 74 of Ball Ground, Ga., passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008 at his residence. He worked at J.P. Haynes Lumber Co.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Greene, Ball Ground; son, Danny Greene, Ball Ground; daughters, Nina Tucker and Loretta Blanton, both of Jasper, Jolene Greene, Ball Ground, and Jean Martin, Canton. Six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild also survives.

Mrs. Barbara Krajec, age 78 of Big Canoe, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Krajec, Big Canoe; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Debra Krajec, Milwaukee, Wi., Phil and Cynthia Krajec, Lawrenceville, Ga., Jim and Sharon Krajec, Tulsa, Ok., Christopher Krajec, Charlotte, N.C., and Tim and Beverly Krajec, Lawrenceville; brother, Herbert Schoenbeck, Ohio; sister, Carol Carnish, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Tandy, Tyler, Alex, Katherine, Anthony, Andrew and Clarie, all of Lawrenceville.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 11 from Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church with Father Frank Richardson officiating. Mr. Charles W. Jarrett, age 51 of Jasper, passed away Friday, August 8, 2008 at the residence.
Survivors include his mother, Winell Jarrett Ingram, Jasper; wife, Vickie Gottschalk; sons and daughter-in-law, Chris Jarrett, Jasper, and Rob and Carla Jarrett, Davenport, Fl.; brothers, Michael and Denny Jarrett, both of Jasper; and sister, Tammy Reynolds, Jasper.

Mrs. Ethel Ruby Posey Jackson, age 76 of Calhoun, formerly of the Scottsville Community, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Gordon Health Care Center.
Mrs. Jackson was born May 31, 1932, the daughter of the late Marion Newton and Flora Jane George Posey. She was a member of the Northwood Baptist Church in Shannon, Ga. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Newton and Leonard Posey; and a sister, Nettie Mae Posey Brookshire.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Tracy Jackson, Ellijay; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Rodney Watson, Resaca; grandchildren, Shana and John Johnson, Ellijay, Laura and Doug Garland, Talking Rock, Jamie and Brandy Jackson, Ellijay, Joel and Megan Watson, Sonoraville, Josh Watson, Resaca, Sean and Sima Wallin, Bulgaria, and Andrea and Joe White, Cleveland, Tn.; and great-grandchildren, Jesse, Clay and Hanna Garland, Jaden, Alexis and Jordan Watson, Oliver Wallin, Whitney and McKenzie White and Levi, Marissa and Amelia Jackson.

Mr. Gerald A. Grabiel, age 80 of Bent Tree (Jasper, Ga.), passed at Heartland Hospice, Cartersville, Tuesday evening, August 5, 2008.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Grabiel, Bent Tree; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Carolyn Grabiel, Corona Del Mar, Ca.; daughters and son-in-law, Dianne and Rob Gagnon and Debby Eckhardt, all of Dawsonville; and sister, Catherine Snedden, Wisconsin. Ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. Mr. Grabiel was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Lowe.

Mr. Paul Scottie Merrell age 41 of Marble Hill, Ga. died Friday, August 8, 2008.
Mr. Merrell was born on August 28, 1966 in Marble Hill, the son of the late Roy and Louise Garrett Merrell. He worked in construction. He is preceded in death by brothers Jimmy and Tommy Merrell.
Survivors include his son, Noah Paul Merrell, Ellijay; sisters, Carolyn Grizzle, Ellijay, and Stella Contreras, Dahlonega; brothers, Johnny and Jackie Merrell, both of Marble Hill. Nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, August 10 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Wallace Parks officiating. Music was by Melvin and Glenda Davis. Pallbearers were: Joe, Andy and David Pack, Chris Patterson, Dexter Tatum and Damon Hughes. Interment was held in the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Lee Roy ?Pick? Hicks, age 91 of Jasper, passed away Sunday morning, August 10, 2008 at Mountain Health Care Center.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Elsie Hicks, Horseshoe Beach, Fl.; daughter-in-law, Loretta Hicks, Jasper; sister, Vera Thomas, Titusville, Fl.; grandchildren, Connie McIntyre, Keith Hicks, Scottie Crowe, Sandy Carver, Susan Davis and Cindy Hunter; and great-grandchildren, Jenny Carver, Meghan and Kelli Cross, Jodie and Sam Davis, Jessi Hicks and Daniel and Christopher McIntyre. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Betty E. Jarrett, age 70 of Tate, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Heather Jarrett, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Charlie Pitts and Tracy and Mike Cloud, all of Tate, and Wendy and Greg Cash, Canton; daughter-in-law, Trece Jarrett, Jasper; and sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Truman Davis, Canton. Eight grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, August 12 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Chaplain David LeGrand and Bro. Lane Wright officiating. Interment was in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Brandon and William Jarrett, Lane and Lanny Wright, Jerry Buttrum and Franklin King. Mr. Terry Joshua Howard, age 17 of Gordon County, passed away Friday, August 8, 2008 in Gordon County.
Survivors include his father, Terry Glenn Howard, Jasper; mother, Talitha Howard, Gordon County; step-father, Glenn Ramey; grandparents, Clifford and Jeanette Howard, Jasper; Juanita Ramey, Marble Hill, and Shirley Beasley, Gordon County; brothers, Dustin Cody Howard, Tyler Ridings and Brandon Howard, all of Gordon County, and Travis Ramey, Marble Hill; sister, Shannon Ramey, Marble Hill; and uncles, Tony Griggs and Frankie Wilson, both of Gordon County.

Mr. Broughton Voyles, age 82 of Marble Hill, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee.
Survivors include his wife, Willene Voyles, Marble Hill; sons, David and Gary Patterson, both of Cumming; daughters, Betty Hamrick and Patsy Voyles, both of Atlanta, Peggy Jordan, Marble Hill, and Joann Guyton, Douglasville; brother, Hallmon Voyles, Canton; and sister, Willene Springgs, Canton. Fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.
