Charles Marvin Mullinax of the Hinton Community entered into Heaven’s gates on Dec. 24, 2013. After 83 years on this Earth, he left behind a history of hard work, a love for nature and a love for friends, family and neighbors.
Charles worked many jobs in his lifetime but the one he loved most was that of golf course superintendent. He worked at Royal Oaks in Cartersville, the golf courses at Bent Tree and Big Canoe and finished his career at Arrowhead Country Club in Jasper. He created greens and shaped the course into what is seen there today. He had a love for this course and its members that few could equal.
Charles also worked to make his community a better place in which to live by devoting many years of service to the Hinton Fire Department. He helped construct the firehouse and get the fire department started. He then followed up with years of volunteer service to this organization as a volunteer fireman. He had such a bond to this group of gentlemen that he asked that they be his pallbearers.
Mr. Mullinax is survived by his loving wife, Willie Mae; daughters, Traci Buckingham, Jasper, and Patricia Cochran, Kingston, Ga.; brothers, Frank B., Coy and Billy Joe Mullinax, Monticello, Ga.; grandchildren, Crystal and Jeff Buckingham, Dawn Silvers and Dustin Cochran; and great-grandchildren, Ryan and Matthew Silvers.
