Joe Robinson
    Mr. Calvin Curtis “Joe” Robinson, age 73 of Jasper, Ga., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at his residence.
    Born June 17, 1940, in Cincinnati, Oh., he was the son of the late Ruby Robinson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marsha Elyse Fuller Robinson; sister, Rose Marie; and step-father, Bennie Walker.      Mr. Robinson was a U.S Navy veteran prior to working for Lockheed, Delta Airlines and a rewarding career as an inspector for the FAA and a professor for the United States Department of Transportation FAA Academy in Oklahoma City.
    Even after retirement he remained active serving on the Board of the Pickens County Airport Authority. His work took him around the world including Saudi Arabia, Puerto Rico and Iraq. 
    He lived an adventurous life and enjoyed sharing his experiences with others. He was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jasper.
    He will be missed by all, but most by all who visited and touched him in the final days of his life, including Terry and Terramani Collier, John Turner, Linda (Nina) Wildeveld, Pierre and Marcia Russell, Nita (Robinson) Clark and Sue Tennant. Other family members included aunts, Christine (Robinson) Wright, Wrens, Ga., Leola Robinson, Fall River, Ma., Lorraine Robinson, Cleveland, Tn., Linda Robinson and Linda and Uncle Milton, all of Trenton, N.J.; and in-laws, Mattie Fuller, Lois Jones, Debra Brown and Gregory Fuller. A host of other relatives and friends also survives.
    A funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church with Rev. Father Charles Byrd officiating. Interment followed at 2 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga. with military graveside rites by the United States Navy.

Mazie Hunt
    Mazie D. Hunt, age 94 of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at her residence.
    Ms. Hunt is survived by her sons, Billy (Deborah) Hunt, James (Wanda) Hunt and Daniel (Janie) Hunt, all of Jasper; daughters, Dale (Jack) Reed,  Linhaven, Fl., Patsy (Pierce) Neese, Canton, Kathy (Clyde) Abercrombie, Jasper, and Debbie  (Jon) McCranie, Amherst, Va.; brother, Lawrence Davis, Marble, N.C.; and sister, Mary Lou (Truman) McKillip, Marble, N.C. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great- grandchildren.
    The funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home with the Revs. Ken May, Gary Anderson, Jon McCranie and Alan Caylor officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery in Jasper.

Alan May
    Mr. Alan Robert May, age 52 of Ellijay, Ga., passed Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at his residence. Mr.
    May was born May 3, 1961, in Gainesville, Hall County, Ga. He was a Gilmer High School graduate, class of 1979, a 1983 graduate of North Georgia College with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting.
    Alan held various positions in finance and accounting, including president and CEO of On Eagles Wings Business Solutions, president and CEO of the Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce, executive vice president and CFO of Appalachian Bancshares, Inc., president and CFO of Gilmer County Bank, and executive vice president of Finance for Cooke & Andrews Investments, Inc. in Atlanta.. He was a member and deacon at the County Line Baptist Church in Jasper, Ga., and is preceded in death by his father, Bernard Dale May.
    Survivors include wife of 30 years, Tracey Young May of the home; daughter, Laura Elizabeth May of the home; son, Noah Alan May of the home; mother, Reatha Tankersley May, Ellijay; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Rev. Jess Posey, Ellijay; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Gale May and Gary May, all of Ellijay; and mother-in-law, Joyce Grant Young, Ellijay. Nieces and nephews also survive.
    The funeral service was held Wednesday, Oct. 30, from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Jess Posey and Rubin Smith officiating. Music and vocals were by Mike Leming, Judy Hooker, Loy Jarrett, Martha Tatum, Dr. Tommy Jarrett, Corey Crump and local church choirs. Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Samuel Posey, Linsey May, Brent Land, Rev. Bryan Hensley, William “Squeak” Jones, Kenny Fendley and Rodney and Randy Key. Ervin Easterwood
Sept. 10, 1953 - Oct. 25, 2013
    Rev. Ervin Benny Easterwood, age 60 of Japer, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Atlanta.
    Mr. Easterwood is survived by his daughters, Kristy and Amy Easterwood; brothers and sister-in-law, Greg and Donna Easterwood and Thomas Easterwood; sisters and brothers-in-law, Coral and Curtis Robinson, Teresa and Johnny Tatum and Penny and Melvin Arp; and grandsons, Morgan, Marcus and Micah. Several nieces, nephews and special friend Susan Finley also survives.
    Visitation was held on Saturday and Sunday. The funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 27. at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Childers and Bobby Segers officiating. Interment followed at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers  were: Mark Mitton, John Trammell, Mike Ballew, Chris Plumley, Frank Martin, Phil Landrum, III, Jerky Walker and Johnny Tatum. Honorary Pallbearers were: Mason and Mike Laird. The family did accept flowers but prefer donations be made to Cagle Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. Ramona Roper
    Roper Funeral Home & Crematory of Jasper announces the death of Mrs. Ramona Roper, age 80 of Jasper, who passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
    She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Katrena Roper, Jasper; grandchildren, Macey and Dylan Padgett, and Mindy Jordan, all of Jasper, and Brandon Key, Canton; great-grandchildren, Brantley Roper and Paizleigh Jordan, both of Jasper; and brothers and sister-in-law, John Pendley, Free Home, and Jack and Sue Pendley, Tate.
    The family received friends on Wednesday from noon until 9 with the funeral service to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Cantrell officiating.  Interment will follow in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Willie Mae Weaver
    In loving memory of Mrs. Willie Mae Weaver, age 91 of Nelson, who entered into rest on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton.
    Mrs. Weaver is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Robin Weaver, Arizona, Alan and Heather Weaver, Nelson, LaBaron and Sherecca Johnson, Canton, Shawn and Chashula Weaver, Cherokee County, Brandon Weaver, Canton, and Michael Brown, Pickens County; daughters, Michelle Weaver and Sherry Dawson, both of Cobb County, and Sasha Weaver, Tennessee; and grandchildren, Michael Deon Weaver, Randy Isaac and Angela Bridges, Nundi Mae Love, Jordan Weaver, James Weaver, Aaliyah Wofford, Jaylen Weaver, Kabrynt Weaver, Zacchaeus Johnson, Zakyre Johnson, Shamon Boone, Demetrius Weaver, Skylar Weaver, Brandon Dawson and Deandra Dawson; great-grandchildren, Ashlinn  and Anslee Bridges, Zayne Weaver, Javianah Frady, Keyiontae’ Dawson and Keyshon Dawson.  Mrs. Weaver was also survived by several foster children.
    Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by her husband, Howard H. Weaver; parents, Kitty Mae and Willie Green; and sisters, Grady Mae Welcher, Mattie Smith, Katie Anderson, Carrie Teamer and Mary A. Green.
    The funeral service was at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Lealand Jones and Charles P. Morgan officiating. Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery in Dahlonega.  Pallbearers were: Carlos and David Hampton, Joey Russell, Anthony and Willie Stephens and Emory Bridges.
