Mary Reynolds
    Mary Helen Reynolds, age 79 of Lake Jackson, Tx., passed away Oct. 9, 2013.
    A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 13, at Chapelwood Methodist Church in Lake Jackson with the Rev. Peter Camarano officiating.
    Mary was born June 13, 1934, in Boerne, Tx., to Gladys and Otto Minor. Mary loved to sew, cook and garden but her passion was her family. She loved having everyone gather for the holidays and family reunions. She worked and lived in Brazoria County for many years. She was also a resident of Jasper, Ga., for many years. Mary lost her battle with Leukemia and will be deeply missed.
    She is preceded in death by her parents, Otto George and Gladys Marie Minor; sisters, Edith and Joyce; brothers, Bud, Ted and Marvin; granddaughter, Crystal Denise Carter; and grandson, Christopher James Carter.
    Survivors include her husband, James Theodore Reynolds, Conroe, Tx.; children, Harold Carter and wife Patricia, Alvin, Tx., James Carter and wife Lori, Ball Ground, Ga., Debra Haley and husband Pat, Granbury, Tx., Linda Gilliam and husband Roger, Lake Jackson, Kathy Carter, Talking Rock, Ga., Mary Nixon and husband Neal, Alvin, Tx., Jimmy Reynolds, Denver, Co., Ross Reynolds and wife Theresa, Conroe, Tx., and Lynn Archambo and husband Don, Conroe, Tx.; brother, Billy Joe Minor, Houston, Tx.; and sisters, Shirley Boyer, Seattle, Wa., Nancy McLaren, Brazoria, Tx., and Linda Bales, Baytown, Tx. Sixteen grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren also survive.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation at 30 East 33rd St. New York, N.Y. 10016.

Peter Cagle, Jr.
    Peter Q. Cagle, Jr., the mayor of the Town of Talking Rock, Ga., age 67, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2013. 
    Born on June 17, 1946, he lived most of his youth in Sandy Springs. Raised in a family with a strong love of country, Peter joined the Navy out of Sandy Springs High School where he was first stationed on the USS Ranger and later transferred to river patrol in Vietnam on Patrol Boat until 1969. His country, community and family were important.
    After receiving an honorable discharge and returning home, he became a motorcycle police officer for the City of Atlanta Police Department where he was proud to serve for over 28 years.
    Peter retired to ride his Harley in 1998, to enjoy life with his family, then moved to the Town of Talking Rock and ran a family shop for many years. It did not take long before he was asked to serve again when he was elected mayor of his small town. He took great pride in the care and improvement of his community. The need to serve still strong and feeling like his job was not complete for the community, he looked forward to continuing as mayor in the upcoming November election. 
    Peter leaves his wife of 19 years, Lynda Cagle, Atlanta; mother, Evelyn Cagle, Sandy Springs; brothers and sisters, Becky Eskew, Sandy Springs, Bruce Cagle, Fayetteville, and Melanie Bushey, Acworth; his children, Michelle Ruble, Douglasville, Kelley Velazquez, Cumming, and Peter Quinton Cagle, III, Finland; and step-children, Michael Marchbanks, Talking Rock, Beth Rice, Cahutta, and Mary Marchbanks, Augusta.  Between their blended families there are nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces will who miss their Uncle Pete.
    The family received friends on Sunday at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors in Roswell. The funeral was held Monday, Oct. 21, at 11:30 in the funeral home chapel. Burial was at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga.

Phillip Martin
    Mr. Phillip Billy Martin, age 43 of Canton, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013.
    Phillip enjoyed working with his hands, fishing and motorcycles. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
    He is preceded in death by his father, Marvin Martin. Survivors include mother, Sharon Martin; sister, Vickie Martin; grandmother, Evelyn Gaddis; nephews, James David Spence and Joshua Ghorley; niece, Victoria Bush; great-nieces, Madison Spence and Makensley Bush; great-nephew, Bradley Ray; fiancé, Angelea Bruhn; and beloved dog, Zeus. Aunts, uncles; cousins and numerous friends also survive.
    The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, at Old Damascus Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Byess and Jeff Garland officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Sosebee Funeral Home, Canton, was honored to serve the family.
Joe Stanford
    In loving memory of Mr. Joe Stanford, age 75 of Ellijay, who entered into rest on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at his residence.
    Mr. Stanford is survived by his wife, Barbara Stanford, Ellijay; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Gail Stanford, Ellijay; daughters and son-in-law, Peggy and Jimmy Bethel, Ellijay, and Makisha Nance, El Monte, Ca.  Mr. Stanford had four grandchildren, Angel Tillotson, Ashley Stanford, Cassandra Threldkeld and James Cody Bethel and seven great-grandchildren.
    The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roland Nelson officiating. Interment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers were: Jimmy and Cody Bethel, Matt Threldkeld, Mario and Kyle Tillotson and Charlton Ward. The family requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to ALS or MDA. Cagle Funeral Home was honored to serve the Stanford family.
