Ms. Linda Gayle Cox, age 67 of Alachua, Fl., died Sunday, July 28, 2013, at her nieces residence in Jasper, Ga.
Born August 10, 1945, in Chamblee, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Guy Herman Cox, Sr. and Beulah Estelle Sexton Cox. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Sara Evelyn and Dorothy Marie Cox and Helen Cox Treadway.
Ms. Cox had retired from the University of Florida after 26 years of service where she worked in medical research. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alachua.
Survivors include her son, Jefferey Alan McDuffie Azar, Alachua; grandchildren, Leia Alexandrea Azar and Lauren Nicole Madden; sister, Bettie Cox Hudson, Marietta, Ga.; and brothers, Guy Herman Cox, Jr., Jasper, and Charles Ray Cox, Dunwoody, Ga. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
At her request, Ms. Cox was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory of Jasper.
Mr. James Mickey Whaley, age 56 of Jasper, Ga., passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013, at his residence follow a period of declining health.
Born April 12, 1957, in College Park, Ga., he was preceded in death by his father, James “Red” Whaley.
Mr. Whaley had retired after 30 years as a service technician with the Hobart Corporation. He was a member of the Foothills Community Church in Marble Hill, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Nicky Nan Whaley, Jasper; daughters, Reshell Baldini, Atlanta, Ga., Shelly Hargis, Acworth, Ga., and Regina Provo, Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Kennedy Baldini, Matthew Bryan, Jeffrey, Eric, Sarah, Jesse, Grace and Rebekah Hargis and Daniella Provo; great-grandchildren, Khalessi Bryan and Mason Hargis; mother, Mrs. Doris Whaley, Molena, Ga.; twin sister, Vickey Giles and family, Warm Springs, Ga.; nephew, Andrew Sams; niece, Anna Sams; great-nephews, Mykel and Devin Hand; and great-niece, Ari Hand. He is also survived by many loving friends.
At his request, Mr. Whaley was cremated. A Celebration of Life Services was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Foothills Community Church in Marble Hill with Pastor Lee Weeks officiating. A reception followed immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Foothills Community Church, 13724 Hwy. 53 E, Marble Hill, Ga. 30148, or to the Cowboy Church in Jerusalem, 9906 Henderson Mtn. Rd., Fairmount, Ga. 30139. Arrangements and services were entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory of Jasper.
In loving memory of Mr. Herbert Lee Cagle, age 66 of Cartersville, Ga., who entered into rest on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Cartersville Medical Center. He was born Oct. 2, 1946, in Jasper, Ga.
Mr. Cagle is survived by his step-mother, Opal Cagle, Griffin; brothers and sister-in-law, James “Jimmy” Cagle, Jasper, Marvin and Jody Cagle, Nelson, and Ricky Cagle, Griffin; and close friend, Hank Bell, Cartersville. Several nieces also survive.
No memorial service is planned at this time. The family requests in lieu of flowers donate to the Cancer Society or Diabetic Association. Cagle Funeral Home was honored to serve the Cagle family.
In loving memory of Mr. Harvey Dailey, age 81 of Jasper, formerly of Clinton, In., who entered into rest on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Sonshine Manor Personal Care Home.
He was born May 1, 1932, in Taylorsville, Ky.
Mr. Dailey is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Allen Teague, Jasper; step-daughters, Gail and Beth Ann Swann; step-son, Kenneth Swann, Clinton, In.; grandchildren, Tina Tartt, Angela Walker and Matthew Teague; and five great-grandchildren.
The memorial service was held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Jasper with Elder Dan Pihl officiating. The family requests in lieu of flowers donate to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Jasper. Cagle Funeral Home was honored to serve the Dailey family.
In loving memory of Mr. Ray Warren, age 89 of Talking Rock, Ga., who entered into rest on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at his residence.
Mr. Warren is survived by his wife, Ruby Warren, Talking Rock; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Louise Warren, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ken Hensley, North Carolina, Regina Cantrell and Beth and Ronnie Padgett, all of Talking Rock, and Tammy and Mike Smith, Jasper; sisters, Emily Mardis and Nellie Eckhoff, both of Arizona; and niece, Denise Augustine, Arizona. Seventeen grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dave Chadwick and Luke Wheeler officiating. Interment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Nicholas Ray, Adam and Michael Padgett, Monty Cantrell, Jason Gaddis and Chuck Bradley. Honorary pallbearer was Kevin Hensley. The family did accept flowers or donations may be made to the Sheppard Spinal Center. Cagle Funeral Home was honored to serve the Warren family.
In loving memory of Mrs. Marcille Gartrell, age 88 of Jasper, who entered into rest on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Halcyon Hospice Inpatient Unit in Atlanta.
Mrs. Gartrell is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Tim Gartrell, Jasper, and Larry and Joan Gartrell, Austell; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Joe Jones, Jasper; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Henry and Audrey Gartrell, Ellijay; and sister-in-law, Fayma Bunch, Blaine Community. Seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Gartrell was preceded in death by her husband, Chig Gartrell.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Kelley officiating and grandson Ben Jones delivering eulogy. Interment followed at Whitestone Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Keith Bunch, Kelby and Tommy Gartrell, Barron Peeples and Ben and Larry Jones. The family did accept flowers or donate to Talking Rock First Baptist Church. Cagle Funeral Home was honored to serve the Gartrell family.
