In loving memory of Mrs. Roseanne Gallardo, age 95, of Jasper, Ga., who entered into rest on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Sonshine Manor Personal Care Home.
Mrs. Gallardo’s date of birth was Sept. 5, 1917, and was born in Saumico, Wi.
Mrs. Gallardo is survived by her husband, Joe Gallardo, Jasper; step-son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Mary Gallardo, Tx.; and step-daughters and step-sons-in-law, Josephine and Aventino Calvetti, Brookfield, Il., Rachel and Raymond Neidel, Marietta, Ga., and Connie and Kent Houghton, Jasper. Eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and surviving members of the Adamski and Kalfas family also survive. Mrs. Gallardo was preceded in death by her father, John Nowaczyk; and mother, Mary Kalfas.
Visitation was Wednesday, May 22, from 6-9 p.m. Mass was at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church with Father Byrd officiating. Cagle Funeral Home was honored to serve the Gallardo family.
Carol Ferguson Smith, age 83 of Cherry Log, Ga., passed away peacefully on May 21, 2013, in Fort Worth, Tx., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cecelia Martinez, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Smith was born on July 9, 1929, in Macon, Ga., the daughter of Elizabeth Cecelia and Arthur Pinder Ferguson. After moving with her family to Miami, Fl., she graduated from Miami High School and attended Florida State College on a music scholarship.
After marrying Robert Tyrus Smith, she moved to Macon. She was employed by Bibb Manufacturing Co., Murphy, Taylor, and Ellis, and Mount de Sales Academy, where she was the director of the school chorus. She was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church, and sang in the church choir. She was involved with Macon Little Theatre, the Cub Scouts and was a
member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert Tyrus Smith, Sr.; and her children, Robert Tyrus Smith, Jr., Atlanta, Arthur Young Smith (Karen), Macon, Evelyn Cecelia Martinez (Norberto), Fort Worth, Tx., John Wesley Smith, Atlanta, and Lloyd Cameron Smith (Michelle), Atlanta. She is survived by 11 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her sisters, Jane Ferguson Lucas, Warner Robins, and Marian Stille Spiceland, Canton, and her sister–in-law, Mrs. Robert Ferguson, Durham, N.C. She is predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 31, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Jasper, Ga., with interment at Shoal Creek Primitive Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pleasant Hill Christian Church or Mount de Sales Academy, Macon, Ga.
In loving memory of Mr. Virgil E. Young , age 61 of Talking Rock, Ga., who entered into rest on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at his residence.
Mr. Young is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Andy and Tiffany Young and Adam Young, all of Jasper; daughter, Dedra Young, Kennesaw, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and G.W. Cantrell, Ludville community, Vivian and Ricky Crump, Ellijay, Ga., and Carolyn and Bart Padgett, Jasper, Ga.; and a grandchild, Landen Young. Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents, Elvon and Myrtle Young; brother, Faron Young; and his granddaughter, Brittney Young.
Visitation was from 4-11 p.m. on Monday, May 27, and no funeral service was held. Cagle Funeral Home was honored to serve the Young family.
