Thomas Irwin, Jr.
Mr. Thomas (TJ) Irwin, Jr., age 67, entered into rest on Monday, April 29, 2013, at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Paulette C. Irwin; step-son, Kenneth Fowler, Canton; and sisters, Ann Smith, Atlanta, Susan Wilson, Houston Tx., and Sandra Irwin of Lawrenceville, Ga; Two nephews and one niece also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Martin and Deacon Lester Maddox officiating. The family accepted potted plants or donations to Cagle Funeral Home to help with the funeral expenses.
The Heart of the Morris Family was tragically lost in an automobile accident on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2013. Beatrice Lydia Morris, age 51 of Jasper, Ga., beloved wife of Mark Morris, mother of Seaman Thomas John Morris, U.S.N., and Morgan Miles Morris, passed away at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Ga., at 4 p.m.
Mark and Beatrice were to have celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary in 2013. Our family is stunned and shaken by the sudden loss, but we have taken great comfort from the outpouring of love and kindness from our family, friends and neighbors.
Beatrice was born on May 19, 1961, in Norwalk, Ct., and was the daughter of the late John and Beatrice Brown. She was known to her family and friends as “Bea, Princess or Mom” and was loved for her kindness and generosity to all, as well as her always irrepressible and happy spirit. The will never be another soul like her again.
In addition to her husband and sons, Beatrice was survived by brother and sister-in-law, William and Molly Brown, North Palm Beach, Fl.; and brother, John Brown, Tequesta, Fl. Other relatives also survive.
At her request, Beatrice was cremated. A memorial service was held on Friday, May 17, 5-7 p.m., at the Roper Funeral Home Chapel. A private memorial ceremony was held on Sunday, May 19, on her birthday.
Mr. Jerry (Lanny) Henderson, age 64 of Calhoun, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Gordon Hospital following several years of declining health.
Mr. Henderson had formerly resided in Pickens County and attended Pickens County Schools. Since retiring from Mannington Commercial after 32 years, he has been employed by Wal-Mart in the Electronics Department. He was an avid NASCAR fan and member of Sonora Lodge #221. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 25 yeas, Shirley Ann Vance Henderson; mother, Annie Cordell Henderson, sons and daughter-in-law, Calvin and Stacy Silvers, Oakman, and Brian Hamby, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Tommy O’Connor, Warren, Mi., and Donna and John Graves of Avon, In.; brother, Terry Henderson, Jasper; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Ann and Charles, Gay, Ellijay, Deborah and Donnie Collis, Talking Rock; Sharon Henderson, Tate, Sandra Dunn, Talking Rock, and Lynn and Troy Creech, Ball Ground; grandchildren, Joey and Autumn Henderson, Zachary Koelling, Jonathan and Matthew Silvers; and great-grandchild, Bentley Henderson. Aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, May 19, at 3 p.m. from Refuge Baptist Church in Jasper with the Revs. Larry Johnson and Ricky Jarrett officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites. Pallbearers were: Johnny Stancell, James Stone, David Williams, Eddie Pack, Terry Guinn and John Scruchins. Honorary pallbearers were employees of Mannington Carpet and grandsons. Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Denville Scotty Hightower, age 49 of Jasper, Ga., died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper following an sudden illness.
Born April 20,1964, in Tate, Ga., Scotty was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Black Knob Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa F. Hightower, Jasper; daughter, Victoria Jaci Fountain, Jasper; step-sons, Ricky and Justen Thomasson, both of Rome, Ga.; mother, Pauline Hightower, Jasper; father, J.C. Hightower, Jasper; sister, Kathy Fountain, Jasper; niece, Kelly Roland and husband Timothy; nephew, Adam Burton; and great-niece, Marley Roland. Other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, from the Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Chris Pack, Harold Hightower and Hershel Ledford officiating. Scotty was cremated following the services.
Kaylin Elise Ann Poss, Infant daughter of Kimberly and Stephen Poss of Taking Rock, Ga., died Friday, May 17, 2013, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
In addition to her parents, infant Poss is survived by grandparents, Tony and Cathy Poss, Ball Ground, Ga., and Jean and Eugene Anderson and Alan Ashburn, all of Talking Rock; and great-grandparents, Faye Poss, Snellville, Ga., and Edith Ashburn, Talking Rock. Aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives also survive.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at the Roper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Neybert will officiating.
Shirley Ann Davis
In loving memory of Mrs. Shirley Ann Davis, age 61 of Jasper, Ga., who entered into rest on Thursday, May 17, 2013, at her residence.
Mrs. Davis worked at Hill City Elementary School lunch room and enjoyed her job very much. She loved the children and the people she worked with. She was a member of Union Arbor Baptist Church.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her mother, Ovaline Wofford, Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Cale and Tammy Davis, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Brian Millsap and Amanda and Charles Weaver, all of Jasper; and brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Teresa Wofford, Jasper. Nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, David A. Davis; and her father, Farris Wofford.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 20, at Union Arbor Baptist Church in Cherokee County with the Revs. Wayne Wright and Bobby McFarland officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Ricky Cox, Spud Collett, Richard and Scott Wofford, Eric Benedick, James Morris and Marvin Moore. Mrs. Bowers is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, E.J. Kent, Randall and Lynn Gilreath and Kenneth Gilreath; daughters and son-in-law, Lorene Kent Duncan and Sandra and BJ Cannady; and brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Wanda Buchanan. Seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Mamie was preceded in death by her husbands, Marvin Gilreath and SJ Bowers; and son, Maynard Gilreath.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 20, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Dawson County with the Rev. Steven Chapman officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Holcomb is survived by his brother, Jack Holcomb, Henry County; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 17, at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Matt Foster officiating. Interment followed in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Cherokee County. In loving memory of Mr. Leon Cagle, age 89 of Jasper, Ga., who entered into rest on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at his residence following a period of declining health with his family by his side.
Mr. Cagle is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Billy O’Shields and Shirley and Troy Morris, all of Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Judy Cagle, Jasper; and sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Billy Free, Jasper. Mr. Cagle is also survived by his six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Cagle was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Cagle; daughter, Regenia Wimpy; and granddaughter, Abigail Grace Wimpy.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, at Refuge Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Childers officiating. Interment followed in Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Richard O’Shields, Bryan Wimpy, Stewart Mason, Jason Cagle, Ronnie Holcomb and David Bruce. The family requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to Refuge Baptist Church or Georgia Mountain Hospice. Cagle Funeral Home was honored to serve the Cagle family.

Mr. Reece is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Gary Dobson, Jasper, and Brenda and Eddie Butler, Douglasville, Ga.; and grandchildren, Niki and Tyler Turner and Casey and Josh Blanton.
Visitation will be Friday, May 24, from 6-9 p.m. at Cagle Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Greg Long and James Thomason officiating. Local Chapter 47 DAV in charge of military rites.
In loving memory of Mrs. Roseanne Gallardo, age 95, of Jasper, Ga., who entered into rest on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Sonshine Manor Personal Care Home.
Mrs. Gallardo’s date of birth was Sept. 5, 1917, and was born in Saumico, Wi.
Mrs. Gallardo is survived by her husband, Joe Gallardo, Jasper; step-son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Mary Gallardo, Tx.; and step-daughters and step-sons-in-law, Josephine and Aventino Calvetti, Brookfield, Il., Rachel and Raymond Neidel, Marietta, Ga., and Connie and Kent Houghton, Jasper. Eight grandchildren and eight geat-great-grandchildren and surviving members of the Adamski and Kalfas family also survive. Mrs. Gallardo was preceded in death by her father, John Nowaczyk; and mother, Mary Kalfas.
Visitation was Wednesday, May 22, from 6-9 p.m. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church with Father Byrd officiating. Cagle Funeral Home was honored to serve the Gallardo family.
