Bruce Mays
    Mr. Bruce Crawford Mays, age 62 of Dallas, Ga. died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga., following a period of declining health.
    Born Oct. 29, 1950, in Lyons, Ga., he was the son of the late Crawford and Frances Watkins Mays. Mr. Mays worked as a handyman and horse trainer at Sterling Equestrian Center in Powder Springs, Georgia.
    Survivors include his son, Bruce Paul Padgett, Dallas, Tx.; and fiance, Annette Hamby, Dallas. Two grandchildren also survive.
    A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Talking Rock Cemetery with Kevin Roper officiating. Interment followed in Talking Rock Cemetery. There was no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 2970 Clairmont Rd., NE, Atlanta, Ga.  30329. Harry Voelker, Jr.
    Mr. Harry Charles Voelker, Jr., age 63 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
    After graduating from Avonworth High School in Pittsburgh, Pa.,  Mr. Voelker earned two Civil Engineering degrees. He worked 26 years at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport as airport engineer and the last 12 years at N.J. Wilbanks Contractor in Ball Ground, Ga.
    Survivors include his wife, Nancy Jones Voelker, Jasper; mother, Elizabeth Voelker, Toccoa, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Beverly Voelker, Toccoa, Ga., Lou Ann and Calvin Rasberry, Dallas, Tx., and Jean and Dave Tilly, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Mary Beth Voelker, Pine Bluff, N.C.; and  Godson, Alec Voelker, Pine Bluff, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, from the Roper Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at 2 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, Ga.

Lola Moss
    Mrs. Lola Hyde Moss, age 92 of Ball Ground, Ga., died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Canton Nursing Center.
    Mrs. Moss was born May 1, 1921, in Gilmer County, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Lettie White Hyde. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Moss.
    Survivors include her daughter, Adele  Moss, Ball Ground; grandchildren, Tommy and Andrea Gartrell, Jasper; and great-grandchildren, Cora Ruth Gartrell, Rece Adele Gartrell and Eric Baker, all of Jasper.
    The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Allen Caylor and Jason Phillips officiating. Interment followed in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sarah Neal
    Our Angel, Sarah Abigail Neal, age 16, was called home to be with the Lord and her beloved and waiting heavenly family on Feb. 9, 2013.
    Abby was born Oct. 2, 1996, in Atlanta, Ga. She lived her early life for 11 years in Acworth, Ga., after which she moved to Big Canoe, Ga., where she resided until the day God called her home. 
    Abby was a borrowed gift from God that touched everyone in a way that only an angel could do. Although afflicted her entire life with severe mitochondrial disorder, she carried out His mission here on Earth by reaching out to and touching the hearts and souls of her family, friends and complete strangers with unconditional love and compassion. 
    Abby is survived by her father, Robert K. Neal (and stepmother Tonya), Jasper; mother, Debbie F. Neal, Cumming, Ga.; brother, Seph Neal, Brunswick, Ga.; twin sisters, Ava and Ella Neal, Cumming; step-brothers, Haiden and Zakaryah Bain, Jasper; grandparents, Bob and Linda Neal, Big Canoe, and Jerry and Judy Williams, White Oak, Ga.; and her homecare nurse, Mrs. Gina Crowe, Ball Ground, Ga. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Gail H. Williams; and great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Williams, Mr. and Mrs. George B. Harvey, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Martin, Robert M. Neal, Jr. and Helen F. Neal.
    Arrangements were handled by Cagle Funeral Home in Jasper, Georgia with visitation on Thursday, Feb. 14.  A memorial and celebration service was held at Trinity Church on Friday, Feb. 15. Pallbearers included: Bob, Keith, Kevin and Seph Neal, Jerry and Wade Williams and Walker Neal (honorary). Contributions in memory of Abby may be made to the Children’s at Scottish Rite Hospital: Children’s Foundation, Abby Neal Fund, 1687 Tullie Circle NE, Atlanta, Ga. 30329.

Hallie Thomas
    Ms. Hallie Thomas, age 84 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Sonshine Manor in Jasper.
    Survivors include her daughters, Mary Juanita Sis Jarrett and Sue Martin, both of Talking Rock; and sisters, Clara Hughes, Virginia, Clyde Dyson, Mary Wines, Helen Nelson and Jessie Owens, all of North Carolina. four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
    The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Jarrett officiating. The family requests that donations be made to St. Marks Episcopal Church, 901 West Emery St., Dalton, Ga. 30720. Contact Ellen Anderson at 706-278-8857.

Larry Clark
    Mr. Larry (Henny) Clark, age 51 of Jasper, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at his residence.
    Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Melisa Clark, Blue Ridge, Dustin and John Clark, both of Jasper; daughters and son-in-law, Crystal Smith, Ellijay, and Shannon and Doug Bell, Jerusalem Community; brothers and sister-in-law, Richard Patterson and Johnny and Cathy Clark, all of Jasper; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen Jordan, Talking Rock, Martha and Terry Godfrey, Jasper, Julia Mead and Deborah and Bart Thomas, all of Dalton. Seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. Henny was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Sue Clark.     The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Carter officiating. Interment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Doug and Wayne Neighbours, Jeff Buchanan, Matt Mead, Daniel Gorth, Michael Fowler and Allan Meadows. The family requests donations be made to Cagle Funeral Home to help with the funeral expenses.

Herman Evans
    Mr. Herman B. Evans, age 87 of Fairmount, formerly of the Ludville Community, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at his residence.
    A veteran of World War II, he served in the European Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in battle. Mr. Evans retired from Lockheed Martin Aircraft in Marietta with 30 plus years of employment.
    He is survived by nephews, Barry Evans, Fairmount, and Charles Evans, Cartersville; nieces, Jaronda Evans and Sheila Boling, both Fairmount, and Carolyn Oglesby, Atlanta; and special friends of the Family, Deborah Ofitt and Sheila Alvis.  Herman was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Josie Evans; sister, Fay McGowan; brothers, Ferman, Arthur and Cleburn; and special friend, Louise Sisson.
    A graveside service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Chandler Boling officiating. Local Chapter 47 DAV was in charge of military rites. Pallbearers were: Charles, Berry and Adam Evans, Chad Headrick and Damon and Chandler Boling.  The family did accept flowers but prefer donations to Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery Maintenance Fund. Cagle Funeral Home was honored to serve the Evans family.
