Richard Laker
    Mr. Richard Laker, age 83 of Jasper, Ga., died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Hospice Atlanta.
    Born on March 17, 1929, in Albany, N.Y., Mr. Laker was preceded in death by his first wife, Maynel Nelson Laker.
    Mr. Laker worked in the sign industry and was a member of the Talking Rock Baptist Church.
    Survivors include his step-daughter, Linda Welling, Warsaw, In.; grandson, Brian Welling, Warsaw, In.; great-grandchildren, Melanna and Brynnah Welling, both of Ft. Wayne, In.; ex-wife, Angela Hughey Cash; her grandchildren, Lewis and Kelly Acosta; and her great-grandchildren, Penelope and Melanie.
    At his request, Mr. Laker was cremated. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Roper Funeral Home and Crematory of Jasper.

Dwight Taylor
    Dwight Landon Taylor of Big Canoe, Ga., passed away on Oct. 21, 2012.
    Born in Dunwoody, Ga., on March 2, 1984, he is predeceased by his brother, Dwight Lee Taylor, II; grandfathers, Rev. Edward V Taylor, Sr. and Lawrence A. Justice; grandmother, Lelon M. Justice; and uncle, Eddie “ET” Taylor.
    Landon earned a computer networking degree from Lanier Technical College and a creative writing degree from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. He worked at Taylor, Turner, Hartsfield Insurance in Cumming, Ga.
    Landon is survived by his parents, Debbie and Dwight Taylor, Big Canoe; grandmother, Dorothy “Dot” Taylor, Cumming; brother, Will Cameron and wife Billie Jo Whitehead, Cumming; sister, Amy and Chad Willis; and nephews, Miles and Graham Willis, Greensboro, N.C. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
    The funeral service was held at 12 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, at McDonald and Son Funeral Home with the Revs. Travis Bridgeman, Jeff Falkowski and Randy Hall officiating. Music was provided by Alecia and Travis Bridgeman, Jaymi Galpin, Bill Pound and Art Shand. Pallbearers were: Kevin Rich, Jake Kirby, Cass Harris, Erin Whitt, Chad Willis, Will Cameron, Kevin Daniel and Brandon Thornhill. Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Taylor, Turner and Hartsfield Insurance Company. Graveside services followed immediately at Greenlawn Cemetery. Flowers were accepted and donations may be made to Big Canoe Animal Rescue 10676 Big Canoe,  Jasper, Ga. 30143.

Harold Pratt
    Mr. Harold Joseph Pratt, age 73 of Jasper, Ga., died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
    Born July 10, 1939 in Buffalo, N.Y., Mr. Pratt was the son of the late Joseph Francis Pratt and Philomena Gister Pratt. Mr. Pratt worked as an insurance executive for 25 years at Johnson and Higgins Insurance Brokers of Atlanta.
    Survivors include, his wife, Colleen Gail Pratt, Jasper; son, Christopher Russell Pratt, Chattanooga, Tn.; daughter, Kathryn Pratt Gaston, Houston, Tx.; and sister, Diana Pratt Dice, Lilburn, Ga. Four grandchildren and a niece also survives.
    At his request, Mr. Pratt was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pickens County Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 45, Jasper, Ga. 30143. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Roper Funeral Home and Crematory of Jasper.

Robert Wigington
 Mr. Robert Elijah Wigington, age 78 of Talking Rock, passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 27, 2012, at Fannin Regional Hospital.
    Survivors include his wife, Edith Wigington; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Curtis Bunch, Jasper; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Samuel Orr, Cleveland, Ga.; grandson, Michael Bunch; and great-grandson, Walker Bunch.
    Robert was preceded in death by his granddaughter; Kelly Bunch.
    The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Von Hinton officiating. Interment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family did accept flowers but prefer donations to Georgia Mountain Hospice or Good Samaritan.
