Lynne Dorsey
    Mrs. Lynne Hammontree Dorsey, age 59 of Jasper, Ga., died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at her residence.
    Mrs. Dorsey is survived by her husband, Clinton Lewis Dorsey; sons, Matthew Strickland and Jason and Cole Dorsey; daughters, Kerry Strickland and Leigh Strickland Combs; and sisters, Sandra Hammontree Crymes and Robin Watkins.
    The family received friends at Roper Funeral Home on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 11-12. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Roper Funeral Home Chapel with Matthew Strickland officiating.

Gayle Karkowski
    Mrs. Gayle Elizabeth Karkowski, age 88 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Serenity Mountain Manor.
    Born on Nov. 12, 1923, in Glens Falls, N.Y., Mrs. Karkowski was the daughter of the late Harry and Anna Jasmin Lewis. Mrs. Karkowski worked in the food industry as a waitress and was of the Catholic faith.
    She is survived by her daughter, Ruth L. Wichelt, Carrabelle, Fl.; and grandchild, Devon Wichelt, Milwaukee, Wi. Mrs. Karkowski was preceded in death by her son, David Jasmin.
    A memorial service will be held at a later date. Roper Funeral Home in Jasper was in charge of the arrangements.

Willard Garrett
    Mr. Willard Garrett, age 66 of Jasper, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at his residence.
    Mr. Garrett was retired from the City of Jasper Street Department and a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church.
    He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Garrett; survivors include his wife, Barbara Garrett; son, James Garrett; brother, Bud (Jane) Garrett; sisters, Ruth (Sam) Abernathy, Betty Ann Edmondson and Jewel (Randy) Cline; grandchildren, Cody, Kayla, Chris, Erica and Lexie; great-grandson, Payton Nichols; and special friend, Betsy Russell. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
    The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Revs. William Blackwell and Gary Poole officiating. Interment followed in Cherokee Memorial Park.

Jimmy Anglin
    Mr. Jimmy Anglin, age 60 of Talking Rock, passed away Tuesday evening, Oct. 9, 2012, at North Georgia Medical Center in Ellijay.
    Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel Anglin, Jasper, Leah and Jeremiah Chapman, Weeki Wachee, Fl., Marie and Chris Green, Ellijay, and Misty and Nathan Kincaid, Augusta; brothers, Don Anglin, Cumming, and Billy and Joey Anglin, both of Dawsonville; sister, Linda Benson, Dawsonville; and grandchildren, Arriah, Noah and Hannah Chapman and Austin Spellins.
     A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Jesus Name Apostolic Church in Dawsonville with the Rev. Bob Benson officiating. The family did accept potted plants or you may donate to the American Cancer Society. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Masonic Resolution on the death of Bro. Charles Watson Darnell
    To the Worshipful Master, Warden and Brethren of Pickens Star Lodge #220 F&AM, Jasper, Ga.:
    Whereas: On Oct. 5, 2012, it was the will of the Grand Architect of Heaven and Earth to call from labor to refreshment our beloved Brother Charles Watson Darnell;
    Whereas: We, his brethren, feel keenly his absence from our midst and while we humbly bow to the will of our Infinite Creator, we desire to make a suitable memorial;
    Therefore: Be it resolved that Pickens Star Lodge #220 F&AM express to the family of our departed brother deepest sympathy and wish to express our gratitude for his life of service among us.
    Be it further resolved that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the bereaved family of our departed brother, a copy to be spread on our minutes and a copy to be published in the Pickens County Progress.
