Charles Paris

Mr. Charles F. Paris, age 79 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Halcyon Hospice in Atlanta, Ga., following a period of declining health.

Born on July 12, 1933 in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Lewie Melford and Clara Margaret Gay Paris Mehutes, Mr. Paris worked as a retired Chief Petty Officer for the United States Government.

He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Lynn Paris, Ellenwood, Ga., and Sonya Paris Reynolds, Jasper; grandchildren, Stacie Lea Meachum, Jessica Candace Reynolds, Makayla Paris and Amber Michelle Sprague; great-grandchild, Kinsey Jordan Sprague; sisters, Jane Paris McCrary, Margaret Paris Parrish, Sue Paris Walker, Margaret Mehutes Wilson and Nancy Lea Paris; brother, Thomas M. Mehutes; and many nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Paris was preceded in death by his siblings, Elener Paris Nold, Ronald Owen Paris, and Charles F. Mehutes.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with interment following at the Lake Forest Memorial Park with full military honors.

Mildred Green

Mildred E. Green was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Oakland Beach Warwick, R.I. She moved to Georgia in 1968. Mildred died July 11, 2012.

Mildred was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jasper, a member of Marble Hill Chapter #448 Order if the Eastern Star and a member of the International Order of the Rebecca’s. Mildred was an active member of the Pickens General Hospital “Pink Ladies” Auxillary. She volunteered many hours making hand crocheted newborn baby hats for the hospital nursery and she worked in the snack bar/gift shop.

At the age of 51 years, Mildred achieved a personal goal.  She entered what was then Pickens Technical School into the nursing program. She was a very dedicated and determined to this conviction. She was able to graduate and then became an employee at the hospital. She mainly worked in the nursery for several years. When she left the more active role at the hospital. She then worked ar Mountainside Nursing Home. She worked the night shift as the charge nurse.

Through several years of declining health, she was to become a resident of the same nursing home now known as Heritage Health Care of Jasper.  There were many days she thought she was still working and was trying to care of all “her” patients.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, George and Lorraine Uhrig, Jr., Georgetown, Tx.; daughters, Barbara Uhrig, Warren, R.I., Betty Nordin and Steve Bradley, Columbus, Oh., and Jack and Diane Green, Jasper; and sisters Mabel Harding, Warwick, R.I., and Loretta Oliveria, Oakland Beach, R.I. Twelve grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 24 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, George Uhrig Sr., and Lee B. Green; son, Francis Farr; parents, John and Alice Randall Eaton; brothers, John and Jim Eaton; half-brother, Fred Sheldon; sister, Anna Bussell; and half-sister, Rhoda Charelton.

The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Von Hinton, Don Cagle, Kris Stancil and Jerold Young officiating. The family did accept potted plants or silk arrangements or donate to Cagle Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

Opal Kinsman

Mrs. Opal L. Kinsman age 78 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta Ga.

Survivors include her son, Mark Gruchy, Middletown, R.I.; daughters, Darie Newman, Jasper, Kim Aikens, Webster, N.Y., and Debbie Hughes, Rochester, N.Y.; brother, Charlie Bozemen, Florida; sisters, Edna Duckett, Nelson, Ga., Mildred Wilson, Jasper, and  Carol Henson, Keithburg, Ga.; grandchildren, Kristie Forster, Amanda and Samantha Hughes and David and Andrew Aikens; and great-grandchildren, Elektra, Mavis and Willow.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Baker officiating. A private interment of the cremains was held at Four Mile Baptist Church Cemetery later that same day. The family requests  donations be made to Four Mile Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Ruby Wilkie

Mrs. Ruby Wilkie, age 84 of Jasper, passed away Monday night, July 16, 2012, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Wilkie, Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law, Lamar and Dale Wilkie, Acworth, and Timothy and Maxine Wilkie, Ellijay; and daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Wayne Bennett, Waleska, and Patty and Curtis Brannon, Jasper. Eleven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Wilkie was preceded in death by her son, Terry Wilkie.

The funeral service was held Wednesday, July 18, at the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Cantrell officiating. Interment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Mike Watson, Chris and Chad Wilkie, Frankie McDaniel, David Scott and Kyle Bennett. Honorary pallbearers were: Cade Wilkie, Von Headrick and Scott and Cody Wilkie.

Eunice Steadman

Mrs. Eunice Bruce Steadman, age 90 of Silver Creek, Ga., in Floyd County, passed away July 20, 2012, at Floyd Medical Center in Rome.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Gary Hamlett, Rome, Nanci Steadman, Silver Creek, and Joanne and Gary Breeden, Rome, brother, Winston Bruce, Jasper; sisters, Grace Kirk, Talking Rock, and Jane Mulkey, Alpharetta; and grandchildren, Alan Hamlett and Dana Hamlett Seppala and husband John. Two great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Garland officiating. Interment was at 1 p.m .Monday, July 23, at East View Cemetery, Rome. Pallbearers were: Bruce Mulkey, Shane, Andrew, Everett and Silas Jones, Russell and Jason Segers and David Bruce. The family did accept flowers but prefer donations to Cagle Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

Victoria Perrow

Mrs. Victoria Carver Perrow, age 98 of Marietta, Ga., died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Delmar Gardens Nursing Home in Smyrna, Ga., following a period of declining health.

Born and raised in Talking Rock, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Mary Jane Smith Carver. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Graham Perrow, Sr.

Survivors include her daughter, Vivian Perrow McCampbell, Smyrna, Ga.; son, Carl G,. Jr. and daughter-in-law, Betty Perrow, Talking Rock, Ga.; grandchildren, Kathy McCampbell Pilgrim and husband Nathan M. Pilgrim, Cumming, Ga., Dawn Perrow deLeusomme and husband Charles deLeusomme, Acworth, Ga., Michael Barry Perrow, Marietta, Ga., and Gregory Allen Perrow and wife Tammy Perrow, Rockmart, Ga.; great-grandchildren Lyndsie Pilgrim-Pacini and husband Joshua D. Pacini, Decatur, Ga., Jason Allen deLeusomme, Acworth, Ga., and Victoria Perrow, Rockmart, Ga.; and great-great-grandson, Jason Allen deLeusomme, Jr., Acworth, Ga. Many nieces, nephews and friends that were also dear to her also survive.

Visitation and the funeral service were held Monday, July 9, at the Roper Funeral Home Chapel with Kevin Roper officiated and the graveside service and burial were in Ball Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
