Infant Casey Ryan

Roper Funeral Home announces the death of Infant Casey Edward Ryan who passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

He is survived by his father and mother, Carl and Jen Ryan; sisters, Jordan and Alyssa Ryan; grandpa and grandma, Kyle and Karen Wilson; great-grandpa and great-grandma, Edward and Virginia Janelle; great-grandmother, Bettie Janelle; grandma and grandpa, Carl Sr. and Debbie Ryan; and great-grandma, Bessie Ryan. Darwin Dobson

Roper Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Darwin Dobson. age 80 of Marble Hill, who passed away at Windy Hill Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Wanda Dobson, Marble Hill; sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Tona Dobson and Fred and Pati Dobson, all of Marble Hill; daughter, Renea Pomfret, Marble Hill; grandchildren, Shane and Mathew Dobson, Gina Crowe and Sandy Scarbrough; and great-grandchildren, Adam, Ashlyne and Erin Dobson, Zachary and Daniel Tetterton and Ella Crowe.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Sutton officiating. Interment followed in Lake Forest Memorial Park.

Sunya Brannon

Mrs. Sunya Kay Brannon, age 54 of the Jerusalem Community in Pickens County, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at Select Specialty Hospital following an extended illness.

Mrs. Brannon was born on Dec.1, 1956, in Walker County, Al., daughter of the late Billy and Lucille Virginia Hulsey Davidson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Hall. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Brannon is survived by her husband, Randy Lamar Brannon, to whom she was married for 34 years; sons, Jamie Lee Brannon, Jerusalem Community, and Jeremy Walter Brannon and his wife Ashleigh, Sonoraville Community; sisters; Diane Richman, Sandra Collins and Gail Ford, all of Floyd County; and grandchildren; Aiden Lamar and Evelyn Sophia Brannon. Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The funeral service was held Monday, June 20, at 1 p.m. from Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church near Fairmount, Ga., with Kenneth Burton and the Rev. J.E. Glass officiating. Singing was arranged by Mrs. Gina Crider. Pallbearers were: Billy Davidson, Ron Shannon, Joey and Jason Childers, Tim Owens and John Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were: Trevor Fite, Charles Roberts, Mather Rickman, Jr., Dale Stone and Jackie Brannon. Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Cemetery.

Bertha Padgett

Ms. Bertha L. Padgett, age 82 of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Heritage Hospice.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Sandy Lewis and Melodie and Daryl Ray, all of Canton; son, Robbie Caldwell, Waycross; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Pat Brewer, McCaysville; and sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret Whitlock, Lake Jackson, and Barbara and Marvin Wilson, Loganville. Eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren also survive. Ms. Padgett was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Camp Butler and Betty Jean Hitchcock; and brothers, R.L. and Billy Brewer.

The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 17, from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Bill Rattliff and Charles Davis officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery in Cherokee County. Pallbearers were: Joe and Jim Camp, Chris Jones, John Wallace, Randy Benefield and Mark Brewer. Honorary pallbearer was Cayden Jones.

Donald Proctor

Mr. Donald R. Proctor, age 78, of Oxford, Ga., passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Decatur.

Mr. Proctor served in the U.S. Army. He was a Korean War Veteran and a retired truck driver. Donald was Baptist and enjoyed trains, trucks and wood working.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Proctor, Oxford; children, Donna Jean King, Acworth, Madena Stallard, Jasper, David Johnson, Cumming, Rob Johnson, Woodstock, Donnie Proctor, Acworth, and James Proctor of Hiram. Seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.

The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15,  from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Ray Berry and Horace Thompson officiating. Interment followed in the Georgia National Cemetery.

Everett Wood

Roper Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Mr. Everett “Woody” Wood, age 76 of Jasper, who passed away Saturday morning at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Wood, Jasper; sons, Doug and Scott Wood, Jasper; and sisters, Gwendolyn Mello and Beverly O’Berry of Massachusetts.

A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Tuesday from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home.
