Roper Funeral Home of Jasper announces the death of Mr. Emmitt Childers, age 84 of Jasper, who passed away June 7, 2011, at the Heritage Health Care in Jasper.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Pat and Debbie Childers, Jasper, Greg and Debbie Childers, Cumming, and Norman and Jacqueline Childers, Talking Rock; grandchildren, Andrea Childers, Leigh Ann and Jason Williams, Patton, Alyson, Nathan, Michael and Jessica Childers and Sylvia Childers; great-grandchildren, Sam and Luke Williams and Miranda Childers; sister and brother-in-law, Melo and Grady Evans, Jasper; and brother and sister-in-law, Artemus and Ernestine Childers and Truman and Wilma Childers, all of Canton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Kirk officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
Roper Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. James Calvin Ingram, age 59 of Jasper, who passed away June 5, 2011, in Cherokee County.
He is survived by his son, Cody Ingram, Jasper; and sisters, Glenda Mula and Vickie Monda, both of Jamestown, N.Y Three nephews also survive.

Pauline Joan Shepard Laskowski, age 86, passed away peacefully at Tranquility Hospice on June 1, 2011.
She was born in Bodmin, Cornwall, England and came to the United States as a war bride in 1946. Prior to her years at Atherton Place, she and her husband of almost 60 years, Louis Paul, who predeceased her, after marrying in Bodmin, started life together in Pittsburgh, Pa., and spent many years in south Florida and Jasper, Ga.
Mrs. Laskowski is survived by her son, John, and daughter-in-law, Cheryl; grandson, Joshua (Julie); granddaughter, Sarah Carpenter (Blake); and great-grandchildren, Hayley and Jackson Laskowski and Evan Carpenter. She is also survived by two sisters and a brother in England, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives both here and overseas.
A Memorial/Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at WellStar Atherton Place. Interment will be in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Ga. David Lamar Barton, age 60 of Calhoun Ga., passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, Ga.
Mr. Barton was born March 16, 1951, in Calhoun, the son of the late Thurman and Mable Barton. He worked in the textile industry at Michael’s Carpet and was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Patty McBee Barton; son, Jamie Barton and his fiancee, Danielle Bertram, Dudley, Ga.; daughters, Dana Mashburn and husband Mason, and Janna Barton, all of Calhoun; sisters, Lorretta Hicks and the late Buddy Hicks, Jasper, Brenda Bates and husband Bob and Janis Ward, all of Calhoun, and Norma Ash and husband James, Hazelhurst, Ga.; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Grathel Blankenship, Morene and Sam Arnold, Johnny and Dell McBee, Buck and Betty McBee and Yvonne McBee and the late Gene McBee; and grandchildren, Dawson and Mattie Jane Mashburn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Friday, June 10, at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers were: Bobby and Ronnie Reeves, Kenneth and Julian Jones, Billy Baugh, Monte Clark, Jerry Miller and Jamie Barton. Honorary pallbearers included all members of the Dodd’s Carpet softball team and the employees of Michael’s Carpets of Calhoun. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Henry Brendel.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Butch and Marsha Brendel, Hinton; daughter and son-in-law, John and Sandra Morrison, Jasper; grandchildren, Joey VanSant, Stephanie Owen, and Jacob VanSant; great-grandchildren, Haley and Alyssa Owens, Taylor, Landen, Leah and Joseph VanSant.

Rev. Jerry Moody
Rev. Jerry Moody, age 73 of Canton, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at his residence.
Rev. Moody was an ordained minister and a member of the Oak Grove Baptist. He also was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Association.
Rev. Moody was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Moody. Survivors include his daughter, Faye Lynn Blalock, Canton; son, Glen Moody, Canton; and siblings, Charles Moody, Ellijay, John Moody, Jasper, and Randall Moody and Martha Ann Moody Smith, both of Clayton Community. Seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Phillip “Phil” George Riddle, age 81 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Betty S. Riddle, Jasper; sons, Dana Phillip Riddle, Kona, Hawaii, David Charles Riddle, Marietta, and Scott Sherman Riddle, Acworth; and daughter, Nanette Dale Plaza, Murrietta, Ca. Five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Joanne Crowe Brunson, age 72 of Smyrna, Ga., died of breast cancer Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home.
Joanne resided at Smyrna Towers for several years and had a brief stay at Tranquility Hospice.
Joanne worshipped the Lord Jesus Christ at Locust Grove Baptist Church and in her later years at Sharon Baptist Church in Smyrna. She was a loving, kind, quiet, caring and generous Christian influence all her life, and she will be greatly messed by her family and friends.
Joanne was the older sister of deceased Jane Suissa who also died of breast cancer. She was the oldest of three daughters of deceased Eva Jo and Vernon Crowe of Pickens County, Ga. She was the wife of deceased William Eugene Brunson of Colquitt, Ga.
Joanne is survived by her youngest sister, Jeanne Grace (husband, Harold) Curtis, Douglasville, Ga; nephew, Eric (wife, Angela) Curtiss and their children, Jessica and Charles, all of Jonesboro; a niece, Terri (husband, Stephen) Luczynski and their three children, Hope, Stephen and Matthew, all of Mount Holly, N.C.; aunts, Ann Cagle, Waleska, and Marguerite Cagle Gibson, Tate; and brother-in-law, Daniel Suissa, Canton, Ga.

Mrs. Colleen (Butch) Scarlett, age 83 of Canton, formerly of Jasper, passed away late Thursday evening, June 9, 2011, at her residence.
Colleen worked for the Federal Government Selective Service for over 30 years.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Dale and Todd Morrissey, Canton, and Debra Scarlett Lee, Jasper; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Sandra and Pete Pettyjohn, Trion, Ga.; brother, James B. Bennett, McDonough; and grandchildren, Scarlett Nicole, Nick and Noah Morrissey, Lansing Lee and Jennifer Martin. Several great-grandchildren and several cousins also survive.

Mrs. Mattie Ray, age 78 of the Hinton Community, passed late Tuesday evening, June 7, 2011, at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Herman Ray, Hinton; sons and daughter-in-law, Jack and Diane Harris, Canton, Shane Ray, Jasper, and Bradley Ray, Hinton; and daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ron Evans, Hinton. Seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Lisa Bradley, age 44 of Jasper, passed away at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital early Friday morning.
Survivors include her husband, Carlon Bradley, Jasper; daughter, Jessica Lynn Bradley, Jasper; mother, Nancy Marty, Leesburg, Fl.; brother, Robert Palim, Texas; step-brother, Christopher Palim; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Roy and Janice Bradley and Debbie Bradley, all of Jasper, Patsy Wingo, Gainesville, and Linda and David Pittman, Cumming; and close friends, Kelly Chumley and Diane Wilson. Aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Grant officiating. Interment followed in Lake Forest Memorial Park with a presentation from Girl Scout Troop 9525 and Girl Scouts of North Georgia.
