Arvil Hooper, age 90 of Jasper, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Mr. Hooper was a member and the oldest deacon at Welcome Valley Baptist Church. He retired from Coker’s Poultry.
Survivors include his daughters, Joyce Parker, Carolyn McCollum, Inez Clark and Gail Weaver, all of Jasper, Shirley McDowell, Talking Rock, Nina Mayfield, Tate, and Melissa Richards, McCaysville Twenty-six grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, from Welcome Valley Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Byess and Greg Long officiating. Interment followed in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery. Sosebee Funeral Home Canton was honored to serve the family.
Mr. James Golden Taylor, age 73 of Jasper, Ga., died Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the Grandview Health Care Center in Jasper following a period of declining health.
Born June 16, 1937, in Tuscaloosa, Al., he was the son of the late Martin Cecil Taylor and Johnnie Fleming Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Fountain Taylor; sister, Ann Randorf; and brother-in-law, Bob Barnett.
Mr. Taylor had last worked as a heavy equipment operator at Georgia Marble in Tate, Ga., and was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include his step-daughter, Deborah Beasley, Jasper; step-son, Jeff Beasley, Jasper; sister, Mona Barnett, Barnesville, Ga.; step-grandchildren, Shannon Beasley, Cheryl Crump, Rhonda Addington and Tonya Kendall; step great-grandchildren, Kimberly Garrett, Brison Mulkey, Derrick Mulkey and Levi Hyde; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Dale Randorf, New Mexico, Bill Fountain, Tampa, Fl., Minnie and J.R. Hancock and Nancy Young, both of the Ludville Community, and Bonnie and Kenneth Burton, Jerusalem Community.
At his request, Mr. Taylor was cremated and a memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at Friendship Baptist Church in the Ludville Community with the Rev. Larry Stover officiating. Interment of the cremains followed in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Roper Funeral Home of Jasper in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Geneva Jones, age 83 of Talking Rock, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Anthony Jones, Talking Rock, Kenneth Jones, Midville, Ga., Charles Jones, Talking Rock, Randy and Faye Jones, Mark and Angie Jones, all of Jasper, Tim Jones, Canton, and Ronnie Jones, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Mae Jones, Talking Rock, Angela Burgess, Jasper, Lynn and Chris Nogradi, Kansas, and Machielle and Mark Pinson, Talking Rock; sister, Donnie Bell Eubanks, Nelson; brothers, Harold Hammontree, Ellijay, Charles Hammontree, Ball Ground, and Mack Hammontree, Florida. Twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. James Jones.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3, from Antioch Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Allen and Kenneth Kirk officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Brandon, Dylan, Joey, Tony, Chris and Charles Jones and Zack Henson. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Charles Mullins,a ge 61 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Mullins, Jasper; sister, Gladys Bramlett, Calhoun; and half-sister, Elizabeth McArthur, Ball Ground. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, from Refuge Baptist Church with the Revs. Ricky Jarrett and Larry Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Greg and Donnie Collis, Paul Pritchard, Frank Bramlett, Billy Buice, Buck Prather and Johnny Dean. The family did accept flowers but prefer donations be made to Cagle Funeral Home to help with the funeral expenses.
Mrs. Mildred Sophie Henson Nealey, age 88 of Ellijay, Ga., passed away Monday March 28, 2011.
Mrs. Nealey was born on April 5, 1922, in Gilmer County. She is the daughter of the late Wylie Hix Henson, Sr. and Effie Hill Henson. She was a machine operator at Hampton Mills and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willard Nealey; sister, Maggie Lee Teague; and brothers, Charlie and Herbert Henson.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Terry Smith, Ellijay; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Diane Nealey, Ellijay; grandsons, Scott Smith, Newton, Ga., and Frank Smith and Ryan Nealey, both of Ellijay; great-grandchildren, Cole and Austin Smith; and brothers, Carl Henson, Ellijay, and Wiley H. Henson, Jr., Lexington, Ky.
The funeral service was held Thursday March 31, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Revs. Larry Stover, Billy Nealey and Roy Scott officiating. Pallbearers were: Jimmy Nealey, Grady Puckett, Mike Sales, Herbert Teague, Frank Smith, Ryan Nealey, Ray Reece and Scott Smith. Honorary pallbearers were the nephews. Interment was held in the Yukon Cemetery.
Mr. William “Bill” Langford, age 64 of Jasper, passed away on Sunday morning, April 3, 2011, at his home.
Mr. Langford was vice president of Operations with Bowne of Atlanta. He also served in the United States Marine Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Langford, Jasper; children, Kimberly Langford, Alpharetta, David and Erin Langford, North Dakota, and Michael and Wendy Langford, Virginia; brother, Harold Ray Langford, Montana; sisters, Denise Sieglin, Wyoming, Laura Yates, Texas, and Sue Bartnesky, Texas; and grandchildren, Quinlin and Miranda Langford, Conner and Preston Berryman and William and Faith Langford.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 8, at the Timothy Lutheran Church with Pastor Steven Constein officiating. The family request in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to King of Kings Lutheran Church, 744 Noah Drive Ste. 113-132, Jasper, Ga. 30143-8706 or Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth Street Santa Monica, Ca. 90401.
