The Ga. DOT has announced that the left lane of I-575 coming northbound will be closed today for bridge joint sealing. The section of four-lane affected is between exits 27 and exits 24, not far south of Pickens County. The lane is expected to remain closed all day, but should be open by 5 p.m.
This section includes the bridge over Sharpe Mountain Creek.
“Motorists should expect a single lane closure on I-575 northbound between Exit 27/State Route (SR) 5 Business and Exit 24/Airport Drive in Cherokee County. The left lane of I-575 South between mile markers 25 and 24.3 will be closed today from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. This lane closure is necessary for Georgia DOT’s Maintenance crews to work on sealing the joints of the bridge on Interstate 575 over Sharpe Mountain Creek. This maintenance operation and the lane closure it necessitates are weather permitting and subject to change.
