     For the second consecutive year Pickens native Thomas Fountain is one of six finalists in the running for GeorgiaCountry.com’s Georgia Country Artist of the Year.
    Since he embarked on his solo career just a few years ago, Fountain has been busy making a name for himself locally, having been named Cherokee’s Best Musician by the readers of Cherokee Life Magazine in 2013.


    Fountain has recently released his first EP, recorded at Country Q Productions in Nashville, Tenn., which features musicians who also played with Garth Brooks, Brooks and Dunn, George Strait and Faith Hill.
    Fountain’s other accomplishments include an appearance on HGTV; he was Featured Artist of the Month for the Georgia Music Channel; his video for “FLOAT” spent 10 weeks on 94.9 The Bull Backyard Country and was the most requested song for three weeks.
    “FLOAT” debuted on 96.5 Kiss Country in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where the Thomas Fountain Band was named “House Band of the Week.”
    Fountain has toured five states with his fellow band mates, playing many shows to crowds of 5,000 plus. He headlined at the Woodstock Summer Concert Series, the Sheriff’s JeepFest 2014 and will headline at Middle Tennessee District State Fair on September 27.  He will also perform at the Under the Oaks Festival in Helen on September, 21 opening for Chris Stapleton.
    Members of the Thomas Fountain Band have opened for John Mayer and Widespread Panic, and have shared the stage with or toured with Gretchen Wilson, Randy Owen, Joe Nichols, .38 Special, Phil Vassar, Eddie Money, Blue Oyster Cult, and have performed at the Grand Ol’ Opry, The David Letterman Show, Jay Leno and the Super Bowl.

    The 2014 Georgia Country Awards will be held November 15th at The 120 Tavern & Music Hall in Marietta, Ga. Winners will be announced on November 15th. Votes will be a combination of fan voting and a special select awards panel of industry and music leaders in Georgia.
